I’m currently doing some deep cleaning around the house and stumbled upon a perfectly functional V.92 modem still in its original packaging, along with an IBM Floppy drive. I really hate the idea of tossing them, but there's zero point in letting them just sit there collecting dust.
Anyone have suggestions for what to do with this kind of gear? I don't exactly have the floor space to open a private museum in my living room.

Recycling centers, honestly? I don't think they have any actual value at all.

Stick it on Craigslist for a month and maybe someone will show up to scavenge it, just to get their hands on stuff they already know about. For free, obviously.

I’ve done the same thing with some of my biggest pieces of junk. Eventually, I got tired of the hassle, so now I put a price tag on things $3.25 just to keep the weirdos and the bottom-feeders away. Then it’s simple: either someone buys it, or I just drop it off at the local recycling center.

Stuff like this can actually be pretty valuable to electronics hobbyists or vintage collectors, so you might want to try selling it for a tiny amount or even just giving it away. I’ve got an old HP's laptop myself that still works—though it definitely needs a new battery—but since it’s from 2007, it’s not exactly useful for anything modern. I'm also planning to build a new desktop soon, and now I'm stuck wondering what to do with my 2009 Core 2 quad. I've heard there are some local nonprofits that accept computer donations if you want to pass it along to them.
There's always someone who could use it. My plan is to take it down to a flea market and see if I can let one of the vendors have it for $3.25.
