Microsoft Office 2010 spell check issues

Alright, let's get specific. I removed the American language pack from Microsoft Word 2010, which seems fine at first glance, BUT—there's a huge catch. Every time I hit the spacebar after typing a word, it auto-corrects to something else entirely. For example, if I type "helicopter," it changes it to "helicopters"; "Canada" becomes "Boston"; "obvious" turns into "obviously"; "Russia" becomes "Prussia"; "white" becomes "whitened"... you get the idea. Which setting is doing this, and how do I kill it once and for all?!!

Weird that it's acting up in Microsoft Word 2010 (haven't used that one much myself)
Just kill "Check spelling as you type"
Go to File => Options => Proofing => uncheck "Check spelling as you type"
btw: check those AutoCorrect Options too?

Yep! That was it. Some stupid setting was turned on there.
