So, for the last couple of years, I’ve been habitually holding it in—mostly because life's been stressful and my discipline has been nonexistent. It turned into this vicious cycle where the gaps between bathroom trips got longer and longer, making everything way harder to pass. It eventually hit a breaking point where things got pretty scary; I actually started seeing some bright red blood. Clearly, all that straining did a number on my system. I jumped on it immediately, though, and now I’m obsessed with keeping things soft, otherwise the pain and bleeding just come right back. My whole goal now is just getting back to a normal, predictable routine.
Anyway, I'm 25.

I stumbled across a solid article on a health site about stuff like this, and then found this specific "program" someone recommended: link
The real question is: how can I find similar supplements here in the States (that aren't just straight-up laxatives) without having to order everything online?

Honestly, just grab some probiotic and prebiotic capsules from the drugstore.
You could also toss some dried figs, dried prunes, and flaxseeds into a blender, roll them into little balls, and snack on those instead of hitting the candy aisle every time you want something sweet.
Oh, and make sure you’re getting at least 300 mg of magnesium in your daily routine.

Obviously, all that straining just wrecked things down there. I tried to fix it immediately, though, and now I'm obsessively trying to keep things soft so I don't end up back in that painful, bloody mess again. I'm doing everything I can just to get my system back to some kind of normal schedule.

You should probably check if you have hemorrhoids or something, because why else would there be blood... and honestly, what's wrong with using a laxative when you're in a pinch? Maybe you just have what they call lazy bowel syndrome.

Probiotics can definitely help balance out your gut flora...
But honestly, I’m looking for something more like that hydro-C stuff I spotted on that link earlier. Basically, I need something to help with stool hydration without it being a straight-up laxative. Anyone know of anything like that out there?
I can't be relying on laxatives every single day; that's just not sustainable.

@Hannah Jackson38/">@@Hannah Jackson38 where can I pick up some seeds and dried goods?

I’m not even going to click that link from the opening post, but if what I suspect it is—that whole "colon cleansing" nonsense—is actually what’s in there, consider this a massive warning: it’s pure snake oil. Back in the States during the 80s, this kind of New York City pseudo-spiritual garbage was everywhere.

I can't just be popping laxatives every single day.

@Hannah Jackson38/">@@Hannah Jackson38, where can I pick up some seeds or dried fruit?

Hannah gave you some solid advice, honestly. Flaxseeds, dried prunes—plus magnesium helps
keep the fluid levels up in your system so things don't get too hard. You could also try Sensible or maybe Active.
That combo saves my life daily since my digestive tract is naturally pretty sluggish.

I also found this amazing mountain cherry herbal tea that's perfect for a deep cleanse 🙂

Maybe you could check with Ashton and Demi—they seem to be pushing that whole vibe on their Twitter feeds lately... Is this just another retro trend coming back around?
Just drink plenty of water and things should settle down

Just a quick tip—always make sure to grind your flaxseeds fresh right before you eat them. If they sit around too long, they lose most of those healthy benefits
