Quick question about SATA drives

It pertains to this specific motherboard

The specs mention two 1.5 Gb/s SATA connectors. Can I connect both SATA II and SATA III drives without any issues? I realize the speed would be limited to 1.5 Gb/s, but I want to be sure.

I am also curious about the latest memory type this board can handle. I'm a bit unclear on the actual performance gap between DDR and DDR2.

You can plug just about any hard drive in there—the connector is universal. As for the RAM, you’ve got to stick to DDR; trying to force DDR2 into that slot is a non-starter.

I wouldn't waste a single cent of my money on a system like that... Honestly, you're much better off just saving up enough to grab a solid motherboard, a decent processor, and some RAM instead..

They make a fair point; I wouldn't dream of investing in it either. I have something similar myself, though I mostly just use it at the gym to track my muscle groups, log my progress, and keep tabs on how many sets I've crushed.
And every single damn time I close out Windows Media Player, it freezes up on me—every single time. It feels like a relic from the past; the connection is so spotty it honestly reminds me of the old 56k modem days. Man, what a stone age era that was.

It’s nothing more than a favor for a colleague. I keep telling him he should just grab a new PC, but he's being a bit frugal. I've been having some issues with my hard drive, so I was thinking of at least swapping out his old 80GB Maxtor for something a bit more modern. He really only needs it for typing up documents and checking emails, nothing else.

And hey, just grab the drive if this one ends up being a dud—you can always repurpose it in a new rig later. Spending extra money on top of this would honestly just be throwing cash down the drain.
