If I’m not mistaken, this biopic is actually up for Film of the Year...

I finally sat down and watched it, and honestly? I have no clue why this thing was even in the running for Best Picture. I didn't see anything groundbreaking about Sandra Bullock's performance that warranted her walking away with an Oscar.

Honestly, this movie was great. It’s worth watching because it’s an ACTUAL true story... 🙂 Such a solid story, though unfortunately it's true... I really dug the film. Sandra was killer 😉

It’s a fantastic movie, but you should really check out some of those little YouTube documentaries about the actual Tuohy family to see how
they describe what happened; the film definitely takes a bit of creative liberty to make things look more polished...

Good story—but it didn't feel fully fleshed out to me. 🤷 They could have leaned into the emotions a bit more. 😁

I can't quite decide if it's just me, but I have to say, 😁Sandra Bullock looks absolutely stunning in this movie, isn't she just incredible? Maybe it’s that change in hair color—though, if I’m being completely honest, I usually find myself more drawn to blondes—but regardless, there is just something so undeniably sexy about her look here!

I found the film to be quite excellent—a poignant narrative that manages to land on a hopeful note, and one has to truly admire that family for accomplishing such a massive feat...
As for Sandra, well, mmmmmmm...

The movie really hit me hard. It was great. At first, I thought it was dragging a little, especially when I realized it was two hours long..

But by the end, sitting there for two hours, snacking, crying, and just soaking it all in was totally worth it. 😍

Highly recommend it! Especially if you're a sucker for true stories. 👍

I follow quite a bit of sports, though I don't watch much NFL or football specifically, so this is actually my first time ever hearing about this young man outside of what you see on Wikipedia! But I have to say, it really is a fantastic movie; isn't it refreshing when you find something a little different, just a nice change of pace from the usual stuff?

I thought the movie was really solid—just a lovely little story. It’s one of those rare Oscar winners that I genuinely enjoyed, even if I feel like Sandra might not have been the absolute best choice given how tough the competition was that year, but hey, fair enough. I might be a little biased, though, since Sandra Mulligan chose me! 😬

It wasn't being too much drama at all. It’s actually pretty light, relaxing, and touching.
Honestly, looking at everything going on in the world lately, I'd say the best way to describe it is—optimistic.
It just really radiates positivity.
A nice, easy way to spend two hours, especially since it's based on a true story.
And big Michael... man, he's such a giant... huge guy, but honestly such a beautiful soul. 😍
Sandra was fine as the mom, I guess, but nothing crazy enough for an Oscar. She's definitely done better roles before. 🤷

Just finished watching it. It’s not bad—decent movie, solid premise, good cast, and Sandra is her usual charming self... but if I have to nitpick, there's zero character depth. I was actually dying to know why they even decided to step up and help him, but the movie just skips over it entirely. It felt weirdly hollow, like they just picked some guy up off a random street corner and handed him a golden ticket to heaven without any explanation—there had to be something going on in their own lives to spark that kind of trust or willingness to help. Another thing that pulled me out of the experience was how they dodged any real explanation about whether they were doing all this just for the sake of their favorite college or sports team (which, honestly, is kind of a silly reason—if you want to help someone just to boost your school's prestige, the government should probably send a thank-you note), and there was enough material there for a much deeper dive. Instead, they played it safe, leaving that whole subplot frustratingly vague just so they wouldn't mess with the overall "feel-good" vibe. Everything else was fine, though—smooth, easy watching, nothing too heavy... a passing grade for me.

It’s interesting to me how many people actually enjoyed this one; personally, I found it a bit of a slog. Sure, it’s a beautiful life story, but that doesn't automatically mean it deserves a big-budget cinematic treatment.
To me, the whole thing felt shallow, hollow, and honestly, a little cheap. It played more like a made-for-TV movie that tries way too hard to push a message, but ends up feeling incredibly cliché and empty. Sandra gave a decent performance—she really leaned into the role,
playing a character that fits perfectly within the specific atmosphere of the film, as they say.
Bottom line? It’s not something I’d go out of my way to watch again.
