I reserve the right to my own opinion, though as a moderator, I won't explicitly highlight it. On the other hand, you could stop being such a self-important troll who constantly lectures everyone else like they're idiots—which is just as offensive, if not more, than an outright insult, especially since it’s always hypocritically wrapped in this fancy "civil discourse" cellophane. If you did, maybe 90% of the users and music mods wouldn't ban you at the first opportunity, give you partial credit, or just tell you to go screw yourself 😉
Basically, you can actually be insulted to death on this Reddit; all you have to do is let someone say something nasty directly, then the mod leaves it up long enough for you to see what was said, and then that person might get punished later—but only if they complain. Meanwhile, everyone else—including the mods—can sit there agreeing while they're shaking in their boots. And if you complain about it, you end up looking like, "What's his problem? The first guy got punished, and this guy isn't even being direct." But it's the exact same thing. It's the same old
bullshit.
It's so transparent I don't even know if it's worth calling it
perfidious.
Whether I'm a troll on a Music sub like this or not is something worth talking about. In the context of there being zero actual meaningful discussion about music here, anyone trying to start one easily gets labeled a troll, and the mods who shut those attempts down act like heroes for some
cheeky, cheery clique that took over, reacting to every single
thought with mockery or insults.
If I'm a troll because this bothers me—because I can't stand seeing off-topic stuff brought in, especially in such a distorted way, and most importantly, because moderation approves of it—then I'm spending more posts lately on this quest for justice and decency, if nothing else, than on the kind of discussions this Reddit is supposedly meant for, then fine, call me a troll.
So, the question is, what's the point? Personally, I think a Reddit should have room for casual hanging out, sure, but it should also provide conditions for actual substance that would include people who aren't part of that established clique, people who aren't just there to feel
accepted as part of some social circle with a specific... sense of humor.
I mean, it can stay like this, but maybe the sub shouldn't be called Music, but rather something like "The Breakroom."
It's like, basically the brutal rules of elementary school socialization at the end of history, so good luck navigating that... Though even then, there should probably be someone watching to see what's actually going down.
