I was wondering, is there any way to make my stats—like my posts and threads—visible to other people on the forum? Maybe hide them from view or something?

Not quite. 🙂

What a mess, I guess this forum is basically just like Facebook now. It’s all becoming so mainstream... That's probably not a good thing.

And what exactly are you hiding in those measly eight posts of yours? 😁

He’s probably just planning to post some nonsense, I suppose, so that maybe nobody accidentally recognizes themselves in his threads. 🤷 🤣

OT: that option just isn't there.

OT: there's no such thing.

Probably... I mean, this whole forum is full of all sorts of people anyway.😂

hahaha... you guys are hilarious.
I'm just asking, I guess. It feels a little weird to me that someone on this forum can see every single thread I've started or commented on... that's really all.

haha, you're something else. I guess if you look at that question again, you might actually find the answer yourself... you can definitely handle that.

I don't think it's stupid either.
Why would it be?
☕

Kids just post nonsense and hide behind a screen. Adults actually take responsibility for what they say and write.

All I'm saying is, it feels a bit weird to me that anyone on this forum can just scroll through every single thread I've started or commented on... that's all!

Look, if you’re so worried about being seen, then send private messages, fire off an email, start a private group on Facebook, or just chat on Microsoft.

By their very definition, forums are open and public spaces. I honestly can't believe some people don't get that. 😁

I honestly can't tell what kind of insult 🤣 is even 🤣 trying to pull 🤣 here... 🤣

It isn't just this one. Most forum software follows that same pattern, at least based on my experience running or moderating them. 🙂

Forums are pretty much public by design. I guess I find it hard to believe some people just don't get that. 😁

it probably wouldn't hurt if that statistics tool had an option like that. Just saying.

Of course that would be a disaster, because then by definition it wouldn't even be a forum anymore. It would just turn into some closed-off chat room or a private email service, or something along those lines...

Okay, I guess I’m seeing that people here aren't really following me. I don't know how this could possibly be a private chat or an email service. Is it that hard to imagine the forum staying exactly the same, just with one specific change? Like, if someone goes to your profile to see which threads you've commented on, they wouldn't be able to see those same threads. Everything else stays the same—you still comment on public threads, you still debate, etc. It's just that there wouldn't be any stats available.

Yeah, it’s clearly the group that isn't exactly hitting the mark on intelligence here 😁

Look, when you join an online forum, the whole idea is to build a digital identity. What's even the point if, say, I stumble upon your post right now and can't find anything else you've ever written? If I can't see the threads you started or get any sense of who you actually are—beyond just a couple of random comments on a topic we both happened to click on—then what are we even doing? Without that history, nobody would recognize anyone, let alone actually get to know each other... and honestly, nobody could ever become a moderator... you couldn't even moderate the site at all... because nobody is crazy enough, nor capable enough, to memorize every single post and link it back to a specific username. So, I have to ask... what's the goal there?

vividfalcon14 said:It isn't just this specific one, really; in my experience, almost all forum software tends to function this way, at least regarding the platforms I've personally managed as an admin or moderator. 🙂

I wouldn't say they all are, though, because YouTube (which used to be Trello) actually offers a setting that lets you hide links on your own profile posts.

Another half-baked attempt at an insult 🙂

So, what’s the deal with having one account and then running a clone on the side? I guess you’re trying to act all "rational" on one profile while spewing nonsense on the other, just so you don't blow your cover under your main username 😁 so people don't get suspicious about who they're actually dealing with 🤣

I wouldn't know, honestly—I’ve never actually managed that specific forum. My experience with admin and mod tools has mostly been limited to working on vBulletin, vBulletin, MyBB, and vBulletin. 🙂

restlessmoose5 said:Alright, it seems like people are struggling here. I don't see how this could be a private chat or an email service. Is it really that hard to imagine the forum staying exactly the same, just with an option where if someone visits your profile to check out your threads, they can't see which ones you're active in? Everything else remains untouched—you still comment on public threads and debate as usual. It’s just about hiding the activity stats.

Give me a break. Even if you hide that, anyone can just use Google to find every single one of your posts. If you're that worried about privacy, maybe just stick to MSN—that should be perfect for those who clearly have no clue what's going on. 😁
