Personally, I’m not even a huge fan of Underworld; I guess the only one I can actually sit through every single time is Blade.

Look, I know there isn't one, but honestly? It’ll probably still turn out better than Daybreakers did. I mean, come on—I didn't see any actual connection to vampires in that flick other than some guys having pointy teeth... it just lacked that certain *something*, you know?

Caught the midnight premiere at AMC Theatres last night.

What an absolute disaster of a movie. Honestly, it’s been a long time since I’ve sat through something this bad—the acting was wooden and totally uninspired, the plot felt disjointed and rushed, the score was painful, and there was just so much forced melodrama everywhere... a total train wreck. It’s such a shame because the concept actually had potential! The idea is solid, but the execution? Just awful. Between three scenes that actually made me jump in my seat and Ethan Hawke (who, let's be real, looks like he's constantly in physical discomfort throughout the whole thing—though, okay, he's still easy on the eyes), I’m giving this a 2/10.

That was basically my face while watching Days of Night.
At least Perfect Creature wasn't half bad.

Wow, I actually had the complete opposite experience. 😁

I mean, I thought the acting was solid, the plot was pretty straightforward and direct, and the soundtrack was actually kind of cool—it sort of makes up for the lack of epic scale you'd expect from a bigger budget. No heavy-handed melodrama, just decent directing.

I really liked the world they built, the way everything came together, and the story itself was decent. Plus, there are a few scenes toward the end that horror fans might actually enjoy.

If I had to describe it, maybe it’s like a mashup of The Matrix and I Am Legend. It feels like a bit of a budget version of those, but I guess that works out okay, since they didn't try to overdo it with stuff they couldn't afford.

Personally, I thought the film was fantastic and quite original—my only gripe was that I was kind of hoping for a more "bombastic" finale👍

My wife and I caught this today, and we both walked out of the AMC Theatres feeling pretty satisfied. If you're a fan of San Francisco sci-fi, it's definitely worth a look.

The acting was decent, the score didn't bother me, and the world-building was actually quite cool. Sure, there are plenty of plot holes and inconsistencies in the lore, but hey—that’s just part of the sci-fi genre.

My only gripe is the ending. It felt rushed; the narrative basically took a backseat just so they could pivot into some totally unrealistic action sequences.

The movie felt way too unpolished, and honestly, the runtime is a massive letdown. 👎

I gotta admit, I was expecting a completely different ending. I kept thinking instead of that whole substitute blood thing, they’d start harvesting blood from those "cured" corpses just to somehow reset the population back to humanity, but nope, nothing. (Now I'm actually sitting here spiraling, trying to figure out how they could have pulled that off) Dafoe's whole "come get your cure" bit was just like, wtf... as if some epic saga just wrapped up or something..🤣

Fair point, I actually liked that aspect of it too. Overall, the film wasn't nearly as bad as I had initially feared.

I'm with you—they probably left the ending hanging to make the scale of the whole scheme feel more epic, aiming for that artistic impact—but honestly, that's just lost on this particular movie.
There are bright spots, though. I actually liked the concept of a vampire civilization and the logistics of how that would function on a day-to-day basis—especially the way the "normal" vampires look down their noses at the transformed ones, acting like, "We are a hundred times better than these animals." You could definitely draw a parallel there to what happens to our own society once we run out of the resources we depend on—how civilized will we actually remain?
But that's really it. They had one great idea and then basically decided to kill it off with messy plotting, lukewarm characters, and dialogue that just doesn't land. And I have to hand it to them, they actually succeeded in making it feel that way ☕

Totally agree. The premise is pretty original and could have been developed much more intelligently. Unfortunately, about 20 minutes in, it falls right into the trap of a standard B-horror. A genuinely interesting, provocative film was right there for the taking, and they completely blew it.

Total garbage of a movie... just finished watching it...
Willem Dafoe is the only reason I'm even giving this credit; he's a legend, and that's about it.

I’m not even giving this a 2/10, honestly... I’ll settle on a 1/10 because it’s absolute garbage and I can't bring myself to go any higher. Whoever was responsible for making this movie and the entire production behind it deserves to be hauled off to a scrap yard and burned,

While I think the core concept is truly well-conceived, I can't help but feel that if the narrative had been fleshed out with just a few more intricate details, it might have actually blossomed into a stellar film😂

It was a brilliant concept, but they sort of lost the thread somewhere along the way. This could have been a truly great movie, but instead, it just lands as being good. At least in my book. It was worth the watch, but nothing to write home about.
