A somewhat trivial question, though I know this forum always holds the experts for these niche matters...

I am trying to estimate the cost of clearing a five-kilometer path through overgrown, rocky terrain—perhaps through some neglected orchards or similar scrubland.
I am honestly not sure where to begin with an estimate... what variables should be considered? Heavy machinery, debris removal, basic grading? I assume that because of the equipment, the path couldn't be narrower than the machine itself—so let's say four meters wide by five kilometers long...

Any thoughts?

thanks 😛

I was wondering how much it might cost to clear a 5-kilometer path through some overgrown, rocky terrain (maybe through some abandoned orchards or something similar)?
I honestly don't even know where to start with an estimate... what am I even supposed to factor in? Excavators, hauling away debris, leveling the ground??? I'm guessing since you need heavy machinery, the path can't be narrower than the equipment itself, so let's say maybe 13 feet wide and 5 kilometers long :-)

Any thoughts?

thanks 😛

A few years back, clearing out rock piles was running about $11,000 per acre. By that logic, this would probably hit $22,000. Mind you, that data isn't verified and it's pretty outdated. So yeah, don't hold me to it.

If you’re trying to cut through a national park, don't think it's going to be a walk in the park. 😁

😂 So you're saying I can just show up and force my way through, like, just winging it?
You didn't give us enough to go on, redmarlin3.

Where'd I get it? It's my job to know these things, among other stuff... 😁

Oh, and thanks for the heads-up. 😁

The Law :-)
Don't worry—nothing is being done outside of legal bounds or by force (though that seems to be the only way this country actually functions 😢)... the question was simply about establishing price frameworks—budget planning, essentially.
And when I asked "how would you know," I meant why you think the area is protected, not whether it's permitted... obviously, it isn't allowed. 😁
Best,
