Do you have a link for some shop in a place like Columbus just so we can see what they've actually got in stock?

Yeah, go ahead and drop the links to those shops. I noticed you don't have any links posted here yet.

Either that, or just order that Corsair CX430 + $13 shipping—you can pay cash on delivery when it hits your doorstep. By the way, I think that power supply is available at Best Buy $100 (assuming they have it in stock).

The only shop that even comes to mind is this one! I can't believe I'm even looking at this site right now—seriously, what were they thinking?! I was just browsing through some hardware specs and ended up on this page, and honestly, my eyes are practically bleeding. It’s like someone decided that user experience was an optional feature you could just skip during development. Who actually designs these things? Is there a committee that sits around and says, "Yeah, let's make it as confusing as possible for everyone involved"? Because if so, mission accomplished! It’s just one of those things where you look at a website and think, "Is this a joke?" Everything feels so disconnected—it's clunky, it's messy, and frankly, it's a total headache to navigate. You click one thing and suddenly you're lost in some digital labyrinth. Why does it have to be this hard just to find basic info? It’s frustrating, man. We live in an era where everything should be seamless, yet here we are, staring at a layout that looks like it hasn't been updated since the dial-up days. Total amateur hour. Honestly, the selection around here just isn't cutting it—it’s pretty mediocre if you ask me. We used to have HGspot, but they shut down ages ago, and since then, things haven't exactly improved. It's kind of a bummer, right?

I'm gonna take them over to the service center in downtown Chicago. $100 Right now, everything is just... sliding. It's all going downhill. Seriously, what even is happening?

Honestly, a 300W offer is basically nothing $133—especially since that’s the most critical part of the build. Sure, those pricier OCZ units are solid, and Seasonic is even better, but you don't need absolute monsters like those

If you're dead set on looking there, xilence 580w will do the job, though it might be overkill for his setup. They aren't exactly a top-tier brand, but they aren't total junk either. Personally, I would have stretched the budget for something modular like the ocz-modxstream-pro- instead. If you were picking it up in a place like Chicago, it'd actually be a much better value and more reasonably priced

Greetings! I have finally put together my intended PC build:

Asus Maximus Hero x87
i7 4770k
AMD R7 270 x or Nvidia 760 series
patriot IEM 1866 mhz ddr3
Samsung 840 evo 120 GB WD Blue 1
WD Blue 1TB 64mb Sata III
Corsair Carbide 300R,

However—after spending endless hours drowning in online reviews and technical specifications—I find myself completely stuck when it comes to picking the right power supply. After much deliberation, I have narrowed my choices down to these specific models:

, or perhaps

On paper, these should all handle this configuration quite well. I don't have any immediate plans to perform any overclocking, nor am I looking to add a second GPU via SLI or Crossfire anytime soon. That said, I am very open to any suggestions or insights you might have. Thanks in advance! 🙂

That’s more than enough power for your rig : Click here 😁

You really don't need a 650 W unit—especially since you aren't planning on overclocking that CPU or throwing in another graphics card later on, right?

Back again. You guys are always so helpful 😁

We recently upgraded my PC, and I'm currently running a five-year-old 550W LC Power unit.
It hasn't given me any trouble yet—so far—but I’d rather just buy a new one. Honestly, I'm a little paranoid that if it dies, it might take a few other components down with it.
I was wondering what power supply you'd recommend for my setup. It doesn't need to be anything fancy—just something reliable and solid that gets the job done.
Thanks.
P.S.
I'll probably pick up another 4 or 8 GB of RAM once my next paycheck hits.

Here is the current build:
proc: FX-6300 3.8 Ghz
motherboard: MSI 760GM-PD3FX
memory: 4GB Corsair 1333 MHz
gpu: XFX 7790 Core edition
HDD: 1 WD 500GB

Found this right before heading to bed—is the wattage too low for what I need, or what?

You could probably just grab a cheaper Corsair CX430W Bronze instead.

Which specific Corsair model are we talking about? I ask because you might be spending money unnecessarily if you buy a new one right now.

If you decide to pick up that NVIDIA GTX 1050, it's a solid unit and more than enough for your needs.

Well, I actually got it bundled with the case. I was working with a pretty tight budget when I picked up the rig, so I just went with this combo—paid $100 for both the case and the PSU.
Who knows what kind of unit it actually 😁

That was my main concern—just making sure I have enough wattage to run everything without any hiccups.
450W, 80+ rating, and it's $123... if I grab it, I should be fine.

Thanks again, everyone.

Hey guys—I’m finally getting ready to pull the trigger on some new parts soon. I've been eyeing an R9 280x, but since I'm currently running a Corsair CX 500 V2, I did a little digging online. Apparently, some people on various forums are saying that specific power supply isn't the best match for a card like that. Is there any truth to that, or am I just reading too much into it? I’m also planning to pick up an i5 4670k along with a Z87 motherboard. If my current PSU isn't up to the task, what do you all think about the Corsair VS series? Is it actually reliable? I actually spotted someone on eBay selling a VS650 for about 40 bucks—it's basically a three-month-old full bundle with a warranty still attached.

From what I can tell, that CORS unit should probably handle it just fine.

The VS series isn't exactly anything special, though... kind of low end, I guess.

Yeah, I see it hits a max of 257W TDP. Since the processor is pulling about 84W, you’d actually have some breathing room there—right? It's not like the hard drive or the SSD are drawing much power at all. So, wouldn't you say there's enough of a buffer that you wouldn't even need to swap it out? You'd still have maybe 100W of headroom left during a full load.

Quick question: can an EVGA CX Series handle a GeForce GTX 750 Ti?

Picked up a 600W power supply on eBay a couple days ago, only to realize there’s no wire on pin 8. I checked my new motherboard and saw the trace for pin 8 actually goes somewhere... it's not a dead end. Why on earth do manufacturers do this?

I tried returning it to the store to swap it out, but since all the other models are still factory-sealed, they won't let me open them. How am I supposed to know which one actually has pin 8 on the main 24-pin connector without opening the box?

I haven't hooked up the power supply yet. The case is still wrapped in plastic, and honestly, I don't feel like unwrapping it if I end up having to send it back. And it isn't the 8-pin, it’s the 20-pin (-5V).
