Yeah... should be... I'll let you guys know how it goes either today or tomorrow..

EDIT: Just listed the power supply on eBay for $50.. Honestly, since the warranty is gone and I actually snapped one of the SATA connectors—plus, it wasn't exactly top-tier gear—I couldn't really justify asking for more. It did the job just fine for my specific setup, though. Anyway, someone already reached out and is going to grab it.. So now I'm officially without a PSU and I'll probably have to track down a Corsair RM series one sooner or later 😬

You really can't go wrong here 😉 plus you have those modular cables on hand, so if you happen to snap one again, you've already got a replacement ready to go 😬

I have to admit, I’m an absolute perfectionist when it comes to this kind of stuff... It makes me wonder if I’ll actually commit to doing proper cable management, though since the power supply is modular, I really should 😳

If you actually own a serious chassis, it would be a crime not to organize everything properly 🙂

Corsair 200R.

I could probably tell you if it’ll be a smooth build just by looking at some Google images...

You could have had much cleaner cable management if you’d gone with the CX500. Honestly, PM power supplies are more practical for non-modular setups; with a modular one, you've at least got fewer cables to juggle in the first place...

I just ordered my power supply! It was actually more expensive through Rolling Stone $13 than it would have been at Politico, but honestly, it’s being delivered today... which means I can grab it this afternoon. If I'd gone through Politico, I probably would've been stuck waiting until tomorrow—and I really don't have the patience for that kind of delay 😁

The only real downside is that the cables are a bit too short.

Hey guys... just picked up an EVGA SuperNOVA from Rolling Stone

Daniel Scott5, I did a bit of a messy cable job in my rig—it could definitely be cleaner, but hey, it works 😁
Sold my old SpaceX unit for $50 and called it a day 👍

thanks crimsonstag84 for the tip. To be honest, I probably wouldn't have even looked at this one if I hadn't seen it listed as a relatively "budget-friendly" option—otherwise, I would've just gone with an EVGA 550 W..

fadedorca66 I was sweating bullets during the install, man 😁

Hey everyone.
I was hoping to pick your brains regarding a power supply question, if you don't mind. Since I'm still pretty new here, please forgive me if this is something that's already been asked a dozen times before.
So, basically, I'm currently running an older, lower-tier 500W unit, and it seems to be holding up just fine powering my i5 processor, a 1TB drive, two hard drives, and my Radeon HD 5770 Vapor-X. However, I’m really considering picking up a second card of the exact same model to run them in CrossFire, mostly because modern games are getting so demanding and I think I could really use the extra muscle. My main concern is finding a power supply that won't totally crash under the load $200 and is actually reliable enough to handle the setup... 😁
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!

What specific power supply are you running right now? Check the label inside the case for the exact model name.

An EVGA 550 W would be more than enough for that setup. If you decide to go that route, just make sure you pick a model that comes with a solid 5-year warranty here in the States.

It's modular (meaning you can ditch any extra cables) EVGA SuperNOVA

At the end of the day, all that matters is that the unit is high quality and provides sufficient amperage on the 12V rail.

A Crossfire Radeon HD 5770 paired with a beastly processor (130W plus overclocking) pulls about 370W under full load. click

I was hoping to get some advice regarding power supplies if anyone has a moment. I'm new to the forum, so please excuse me if this has been asked before.
Right now, I'm running an older, lower-tier 500W unit. It’s holding up fine with my i5 processor, a 1TB drive, and two hard drives, along with a Radeon HD 5770 Vapor-X. I'm considering picking up a second identical card to run in Crossfire since modern games are getting a bit too demanding for my current setup. I need a PSU that won't fail under the load... $200 and something reasonably priced... 😁
Help!

All the power supplies being suggested here are going to run you about $150 or more. If you factor in the cost of finding a second HD5770—and honestly, you probably won't find one for free—it doesn't seem worth it to me.
My suggestion? Sell that HD5770. I see they're going for around $167, so you could easily grab $133 for it. That leaves you with $283 to work with. With that amount, you could pick up an R7 260X or a GTX 750. In terms of raw performance, a dual HD5770 Crossfire setup is roughly on par with a GeForce GTX 470, which sits right in the same ballpark as those two newer cards.

Plus, you'd end up with a single, modern card that pulls significantly less power.

I totally agree—plus, you definitely wouldn't see some massive 50% performance jump in games just by slapping a second card in there. That’s not really how the math works... For me, I'm always going to vote for one powerhouse GPU over two weaker ones any day of the week.

I actually have this power supply on hand right now. To be honest, when I was building my rig about two or three years ago, I was trying to be a bit more budget-conscious with my parts, so I ended up picking out what was essentially an entry-level unit. But, I have to say, I haven’t run into a single issue with it so far. That being said, I’ve reached the point where I really need to step up my graphics card, and since that means upgrading the PSU too—given that my current one just isn't high-quality enough for a heavy lift—that's why I was reaching out to you all for some advice... 😁
So, what should my final move be here? I suppose I could sell off both the GPU and the PSU, and once I get them replaced, I really don't want to spend less than $500 under any circumstances, though that feels like quite a stretch for me. My initial thought was maybe to grab an EVGA SuperNOVA for $50, and then pick up another Radeon HD 5770 Vapor-X. I’m still genuinely happy with that card, honestly, because it still manages to run most modern games at about 80% settings on high, so if I pair it with a solid, reliable power supply, it might just work.

So, that new power supply isn't really worth even $50 😂... you might be able to pick up a used one for $27. Those Linkworld units are honestly some of the biggest pieces of junk out there when it comes to PSUs 😬
.
And I get that it costs $133, right? 🤣

Haha, yeah, honestly, that looks like a perfect little sales link for me to use if I ever wanted to offload $50 my old stuff...
