How do I increase my post count?

you guys might notice some posts are missing—no, they weren't deleted, the whole thread just got moved to a section where the post count doesn't show up. So they're still there, you just can't see them.

Sometimes I just feel a bit discouraged. That’s why I made that comment. Just look at how many people have joined over there now. 🙂 Some people read, but they're too embarrassed to actually participate. And that's just one specific thread. There are even more on others. On top of that, there are three separate chat rooms. You don't realize what used to happen back when the whole crowd was active. You don't know what gets posted in those threads either. So, you're really just making accusations without knowing... 😁

Look, I'm not going to sit here and defend myself. I'm not slandering anyone; I'm just stating my opinion about something. On a forum. And somehow, you felt personally attacked. You could have just ignored the post and moved on.

I’ve been following my own thread. Some days there’s nobody around, other times it gets quite busy. New faces pop in and stay, while some of the regulars just drift away. It can be incredibly dull, or it can be great... 🤷

By the way, Reddit isn't some strict PDF document, and I think it's perfectly fine to have more casual chatting allowed. As for the threads themselves... has anyone ever actually cared about post counts? Does it even mean anything regarding someone's standing on a forum?

This whole thread feels pretty bizarre to me. Honestly, I wouldn't mind having a third of the posts I have right now—I don't really see the point 🤷

Besides, I always had the impression that Olivia Moore51 was a perfectly decent, mature lady who surely preferred quality over quantity—both in life and here on the forum. Clearly, I misread the situation 🤷

I know people—and yeah, I’m one of them—who’ve had 4,000 or 5,000 posts wiped on various message boards. And more. It’s honestly kind of embarrassing. Look, it's your money and your time you're spending. Period. And damn it, there were some actually good posts in there too. If a thread had to go to keep the forum balanced, fine, whatever.🤷

I just don't want people downplaying the importance of the off-topic section, because there’s way worse off-topic stuff floating around in threads labeled as "essential" to the site.🙄

I was wondering, why do some people insist on moving a thread to the off-topic section once it hits a certain post count? Is there actually a logical reason for that?

Personally, I think we could just get rid of those post limits altogether. 😁

Most of those off-topic threads are just leftovers from specific chats or "regular" topics. People meet, they hit it off, whatever. It’s nothing new, right? Since they can't keep chatting "legally" in the main thread, they start an off-topic topic to hang out. They're just having a good time without worrying about the post count. No big deal. 😁
It's way less painful than getting shut down by some moderator on a formal forum. 😁

I understand that. What I'm actually wondering about is this: say a chat on the US boards reaches 20,000 posts, and then a moderator closes it and opens a new one on the US boards instead. If that old thread just gets moved to off-topic, the only thing that happens is everyone's post count gets reset. So, I guess I'm just curious why that's even done.

Is it just me, or is it actually a good thing when the post count starts dropping? I mean, isn't it way more effective to build a reputation with maybe 2 or 3 quality posts rather than grinding through 20k? 😁

Or even worse—having nearly 60k posts, like some people here, without ever having written a single memorable sentence.

Back when I was at my old job, the moderator handled things that way for us during our breaks, but nobody really complained since no one was obsessed with their post count anyway. I assumed other sites did the same thing, so I was a bit confused. Oh, so some people actually delete them. I wonder why? 😕

Look, if you’ve been posting heavily in a specific discussion thread, there’s a high probability it was moved over to the off-topic section—which would explain why your post count seems to have taken a hit, since off-topic posts aren't tallied 🤣
. Either that, or they just went ahead and deleted them. 😛
