Aluminum scrap prices/trading

Greetings.

Does anyone know of a local metal fabrication shop or a supplier that handles aluminum processing? I’m working on a project for a university course and need to get some rough estimates on material costs for specific dimensions, along with the pricing for custom shaping. Any leads?

A kilo of pure aluminum—we're talking 99% purity—runs you about $2. If you're looking at a cast piece, you’re looking at $4 or $5 per kilo, maybe more depending on how much of a headache the part is to actually cast. I spent some time doing an internship at an aluminum foundry back in high school, so if you tell me exactly what you're trying to pull off, I might be able to point you in the right direction. 🙂
