Exactly—a decent LCD Panel Technology setup will fit perfectly fine with an AMD FX-6300, just like I mentioned before. You won't even notice the power draw, and honestly, if he decides to pivot to a Core i3 & H97 build instead, he’ll still have a massive selection of beefier CPUs to choose from later if he wants to upgrade. Plus, the performance stays totally competitive.

Comparing LCD Panel Technology types is always tricky because it really comes down to personal preference. It's not like IPS is objectively "better"—it just has more vibrant colors, and since it doesn't rely on PWM, the monitor is flicker-free. Also, that AOC model tends to have a slightly slower response time.

The only real downside he might run into is that annoying glossy screen on the Samsung😁

And while you could swap that i3 out for an AMD FX 6300, I guess if there isn't any overclocking potential involved, it might actually be better to stick with the Intel setup, since that has its own set of advantages too. The NVIDIA GTX 750 is maybe about 15% weaker than a 270, but the power draw is significantly lower; once you factor in that efficient i3, you're looking at a difference of at least 100W.

Still running a weak rig 😁

I’d always pick the higher quality IPS matrix. Having a bigger screen won't mean much if the picture sucks.

I haven't actually seen this monitor in person yet, but Linus claims it outperforms LCD Panel Technology. I tend to respect his testing methodology, and for the most part, I find myself agreeing with him

I think the Flatron option is actually the best value here. That IPS monitor is more than enough, and performance-wise, you aren't making any compromises or cutting corners. Plus, there's that extra RAM which is super easy to throw in. 🙂 Though, I have to admit, Smarticov's setup is tempting because of how they managed to squeeze that 280 in there... 😬

And honestly, when you're putting together a build that includes a monitor, I feel like you shouldn't skimp on the screen. It’ll most likely outlast the actual PC anyway, and having those extra couple of inches makes a massive difference when you're gaming or just settling in to watch a movie.

Truth. At the end of the day, it's up to the OP to decide their own priorities. 🙂

He probably needs to watch his distance from the screen, too—it really should be at least twice the width of the monitor. Though, I guess if he doesn't mind a larger setup, he could always go bigger 😉
