Hey everyone...
I’m an elevator technician, so my job is pretty brutal on the body. About three weeks ago, the pain in my knees and lower back became totally unbearable, so I finally saw a doctor. I went on medical leave, and for the last three weeks, I've been stuck doing tests and even some physical therapy..
Here are my results:
X-ray lumbar spine: reduced disc space at L5-S1 with signs of osteochondrosis and caudal spondylarthrosis
X-ray knee: signs of subchondral sclerosis in the femoralpatellar joint bodies.
The physical medicine specialist gave me this
Diagnosis: Right-side lumboischialgia
Chronic lumbosacral syndrome
Early-stage bilateral patellofemoral arthrosis
And concluded
Treatment: Avoid heavy lifting, continue current meds, physical therapy including COMPEX for quads, paravertebral massage, lumbar IFS, and IMG for knees and L/lox with follow-up..
Since the pain is clearly mechanical, the specialist wants me to get an MRI of my lower back. But since things don't exactly move "instantly" here, I won't be able to get it done until mid-April.
Today marks my third week on leave, and my primary care doc sent me to a Medicare review board so "they" can decide if I'm actually fit to work.
Even though I explained that my job is heavy manual labor and that I still have therapies and an MRI pending, they didn't seem to care much. After just a quick "muscle check" on my legs, they decided my muscles could handle it and cut off my medical leave..
I'm only 30, and honestly, it hurts. I can't work without painkillers, and every morning when I wake up, it takes me like 15 minutes just to loosen up enough to stand. I'm not lazy, and I don't go on leave for every little thing, so I really can't wrap my head around why I couldn't get an extension for this..
So, if anyone has any advice: PLEASE HELP!!
