How did you all get started?

For me, the US music scene is pretty essential too. I was listening to OK Computer back in middle school and thought it was great, though it didn't exactly shatter my worldview—if you know what I mean. But when I first heard Kid A, it felt like my brain actually did a complete reset.

And I'd say Transformers is definitely one of those key albums for my own personal growth. Man, what an absolute masterpiece.

We already went off on a tangent about Radiohead in some other thread. 😍 Actually, I don't think we even did that in the Radiohead topic. 😬

Predictably enough, Idioteque was the one that really got to me. Miss—the start of the album is honestly some of the best stuff ever—but it kind of just drifted in the background while I was busy with things. And then who's in a bunker who's in a bunker started... LOGGING OUT

I basically went in order—started with The Bends, then hit up Pablo Honey, and finally moved on to OK Computer.

Honestly, Pablo Honey absolutely kills!

OK Computer, then Kid A, followed by Pablo Honey, The Bends, Amnesiac, Hail, and finally In Rainbows.
My actual ranking would go: OK Computer, Amnesiac, Kid A, Hail, In Rainbows, The Bends, and then Pablo. 🤷

If we’re looking at the timeline, you’ve got OK Computer dropping around '97, then moving into The Bends, and then Pablo... just following the chronological flow, I guess. 😍

What a total waste of space. Look, we all love Radiohead, but nobody was there from day one... 😕

followed by dance music like Fatboy Slim, Propellerheads, and Chemical Brothers, all of which I still listen to without a shred of shame or hesitation because it's just what I love, much like the classic curriculum at St. George's School Young Baboon.🙂

Back in 5th grade, I mostly listened to Michael Jackson, Ricky Martin, and that sort of thing. I remember one friend actually managed to squeeze both Offspring's Americana and Prodigy's Music for the Jilted Generation onto a single cassette tape, one on each side 😍. It's possible I still have that tape somewhere; I really should dig through my old stuff to find it.

After that, I started listening to Offspring religiously, which sparked my interest in guitar-driven music, eventually leading me toward Limp Bizkit and so on. Around 8th grade, punk started creeping in—mostly local American bands first (Dubrivo was my first concert, back before they were even famous, at least according to some of the older folks 😬; there was also Mental Waste and a few others 🙂), and only later did I move on to international acts. During that phase, NOFX was definitely the most played, and then I slowly began dipping my toes into hardcore.

Sick of It All, which I used to think was way too loud, has actually become one of my top three favorite bands. That’s when my listening habits shifted from old school sounds into metalcore. I discovered Black Flag (absolutely LEGENDARY 😍) and I've stuck with them ever since (they're easily in my top three). From all of that, I stayed loyal to a few old school bands, but through metalcore, I gradually drifted into metal.

It's kind of funny to think that I'm going to see Napalm Death in a few days, considering how much we used to laugh five or six years ago about who could even stand that level of noise 😬 (though, I suppose I did quite enjoy Twist the Knife (Slowly) on Fear, Emptiness, Despair; looking back, I probably should have realized then that I was headed down this path 🙂). I started revisiting everything tagged with "METAL," which eventually led me to even more "extreme" genres like crust, noise, sludge, and a million other various things.

Around that same period, while exploring metal, I started to realize that musical fascism is total nonsense 🙏 and began branching out into indie, electro, experimental stuff, and so forth.

Nowadays, I just listen to whatever catches my ear and seems interesting, though I guess the largest percentage of my playlist is still taken up by that "extreme" music 😳.

It has been quite a journey; I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by nostalgia right now 😍.

I don't get people who ditch NOFX just to jump ship to Korn 😁

Going from Eurythmics to Shellac is fine, I guess—but Tool after Lizard and Fugazi... 🙂

I started out with the Beatles and the Stones, then about two and a half years ago I finally sat down and watched *The Doors*. Man, that hit me like a freight train—you know that feeling? Like you’re finally breaking through to the other side. Since then, I’ve been diving deeper into the psychedelic stuff like Ravi Shankar, Lou Reed, and Pink Floyd, though the Doors still hold the top spot for me.

Hmm. I suppose I didn't lay out the timeline quite as accurately as I should have, since most of this was happening all at once—though I was listening to Fugazi just a little bit earlier! I'm really not sure how much that actually matters.🤷
What worries me more is that phase where I was stuck on a loop of old-school country hits and Zlatni Dukati, topped off with Primus at the end of every single day.🙏🙏🙏(I mean, if you ask me🙏👍😛)

I was all about The Bends and OK Computer from the jump. Then Kid A dropped, completely fried my brain, and I just lost interest in them altogether.😈 😬
