How do I make an audio DVD?

Microsoft has an option for audio CDs, but nothing for audio DVDs.

Does anyone know which program to use—or even how to go about this—to make an audio DVD that actually works in any standard player?

Thanks.

Give this a shot:

Not every single audio setup out there can handle this—it’s not just plug-and-play—so you really ought to double-check if your system actually supports DVD-Audio playback... because let's be clear, CD-Audio and DVD-Audio are two completely different beasts.

Well, maybe at Microsoft Best Buy.

I mean, you really think those two things are the same? hmmm...

Wait, why wouldn't you just record it in MP3 format?

I mean, I guess Tija would probably try to make an audio DVD just like how we have audio CDs now, maybe because they think the sound quality would be better or something...

If you're ripping stuff to MP3 at a 320 kbps bitrate, honestly, you aren't going to notice any difference in quality at all...

And look, if you think you can fix ripped songs by recording them as live audio, that's just not how it works—you won't be fixing the quality that way!

Since you don't have Nero, here's what I've got instead:

IMAGE, but honestly, I’m still not quite following what's tripping you up.

Look, if you've already ripped the music onto a disc in an audio format, you can just burn it to a DVD—exactly like you would with a CD 🙂—and then play it back on whatever device you feel like using.

I suppose it's not the same. If we're talking about a 320kbps MP3, maybe the quality matches a CD or a DVD, except you can fit 80 tracks on a CD and maybe 500 on a DVD, which you could play on any DVD player that supports it.

IMAGE, though I guess I still don't quite see what your issue is.

If you've already ripped the music to an audio format on your disc, you could burn it to a DVD just like a CD 🙂 and play it wherever you want.

Adobe formats belong to the MPEG4 family, so I guess you can only play or watch them on players that specifically support Adobe, not just anything. For instance, look at

and a few others, perhaps.

Carol Lee23 said:The idea is basically to take the concept of an audio CD and just port it over to a DVD format—maybe hoping for some kind of boost in sound quality...

But look, if you’re banking on being able to burn a DVD as an audio disc and then pop it right into your old-school CD players... forget about it. It’s just not gonna work. Period.

I mean, obviously not! I've got a Sony CDP-X777 sitting right here, so I know how this works.

It won't serve any purpose. You aren't going to get any better sound out of it.

Look, just burn those tracks onto an MP3 disc and call it a day. You’ll be able to cram way more songs onto a single disc that way... hehe... And trying to turn an MP3 into high-fidelity audio to somehow "improve" the quality? Hmm... you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
