I know this might sound a little ridiculous, but since this isn't the first time it's happened—and frankly, it’s just plain bizarre—I figured I should ask.

I have this subcutaneous child developing on my back (nothing massive, nothing out of the ordinary, really), but whenever I press on it, I get this sensation in my lower right abdomen—it isn't exactly agonizing, if that's my word for it; more like an uncomfortable, nagging ache—that then radiates diagonally up toward my right shoulder for about four inches or so.

I am genuinely curious about what the connection could possibly be between these two things.

This has actually occurred a few times before (as far as I can recall, it's always been a child on my back paired with abdominal pain, though the exact locations vary slightly), and everyone I've mentioned it to thought I was just messing around because it sounds so strange—but honestly, it's better to be safe and look into it.

It's not an intense pain, per se, more like a nagging discomfort, and it seems to radiate about four inches diagonally toward my right shoulder.

I'm curious if there's actually a connection between the two.

This has happened a few times now; as far as I can recall, it's always been a child on my back paired with abdominal pain in different spots. Everyone thinks I'm just pulling their leg because it sounds so weird, but I think it's better to be safe than sorry.

Hmm, could be shingles. You should head to a doctor and make sure you mention that specific connection. If it is shingles, you really need to get on top of treatment immediately.

I just did some digging online regarding shingles, and honestly, this doesn't look even remotely similar to what I've got going on (at least based on the other symptoms)... Dammit, it’s clearly just some weird child... 🙂

Thanks! 😉

And is it possible that by pressing on it, you might be putting pressure on a nerve as well? 🤷

Look, don't go relying on those internet photos. Shingles can manifest from deep within the skin moving outward, and it doesn't always look like the textbook pictures you see online. God forbid, but you really should see a doctor. If it's just a child, it might be an inflamed one that needs treatment with an antibiotic ointment.
