Why am I finding myself unable to access Reddit several times throughout the day?

Regarding the server issues affecting Reddit

Every single time I head over to my profile to find a thread I actually started, I get hit with this...

It’s the exact same issue we see when someone tries using the subforum search... And while we're at it, doubling up on threads isn't allowed. If this was an error, please fix it; if it wasn't, I'd love for someone to explain the logic behind it. Thanks...

That's because the site's internal search function is broken—it was actually disabled by the site admins.

Sure, it’s a logical fix for the problem, though I suppose you have to account for the noise from the bug forums and such...
A more efficient workaround is using domain-specific searches—you know, typing > into Google—which forces the results to pull exclusively from the Reddit domain itself.
But even then, it’s hardly a perfect solution; you lose all those granular search features, specific parameters, user filters, or the ability to select PDF files...
Honestly, I can't quite wrap my head around why they would disable the internal search function. What possible way could a member actually abuse it? That seems to be the only logical reason for why it isn't working, and frankly, it feels a bit excessive.

My apologies—perhaps I should have clarified from the jump that I am actually Adam Miller53. I set up this secondary account just to run a little experiment regarding how the site handles restrictions. If any of the admins happen to see this, please feel free to go ahead and permaban the Adam Miller53 account whenever you get a chance.

Unless the admin decides to step back in—and honestly, who knows if they’ll even bother reactivating the search function at all—there isn't really any other way forward. I suppose we're stuck with the only option available, which is pretty much exactly what the moderator over at Dub suggested... it's essentially the same solution, really. It’s quite a curious little collection of thoughts floating around out there. I was looking through some discussions on Reddit earlier—you know how it goes, you fall down a rabbit hole and suddenly it's two in the morning—and I couldn't help but notice how people tend to react to these things. There's a certain... predictable chaos to it all, I guess. Some people dive in headfirst without a second thought, while others—myself included, perhaps—tend to hover on the periphery, weighing the implications before committing to a single sentence. It’s interesting, really. One might think that in an era of such instant connectivity, we would be more decisive. But instead, we just seem to add more noise to the signal. Maybe that's just the nature of the beast. Or maybe I'm just overthinking it. It's entirely possible that I am. Regardless, there's a certain dry irony in watching everyone scramble for a position when the ground beneath them is shifting so constantly. Anyway, I'll leave it at that for now.

Why doesn't the site just upgrade to the latest version? That would patch some of those well-known security holes—plus, the new version would finally have a mobile view.

Ultimately, that's up to the owner of the Reddit community, and frankly, he hasn't shown even the slightest hint of interest in handling that—nor does he seem to care about any other pressing matters, for that matter. So... 🤷
