Hey everyone, I’ve got some footage ready to go, but I’m struggling with how to craft a background like the one in this video. How would you even go about making a visual base like that? 😕

Look, I’m pretty sure I coded that thing myself.
At least, that’s how I remember it. I think I only ever booted it up once—can’t even recall the damn name—but honestly, I never really had any use for it anyway. 🙂

No, that’s not quite it. I’m not talking about some MIDI or Karaoke file for vanBasco; I’m actually dealing with an MP3 matrix. My dilemma is that I have no idea how to go about creating a video background for it.🤷 Specifically, something with lyrics—you know, like a proper karaoke video. Does anyone happen to know of a decent program for that kind of thing?

I’d stick with MIDI karaoke and VanBasco—honestly, almost every song is available in MIDI format, whereas MP3 instrumentals cost a fortune and there just aren't enough local tracks out there. To me, this doesn't even look like a video background, not by a long shot; if it were a real video, you'd have live footage running behind the lyrics. Why do you think this isn't just VanBasco on a black screen? Is it the sound?? It's simple: grab some softsynths—Winggroove, edit with Hyper Canvas, and load up about 2GB of Steinberg Hypersonic 2. With that setup, you get a studio-quality sound—like, seriously good—even though the file is only a few dozen KB, yet it sounds like a massive 100 MB track. You can pull off everything you see on YouTube using VanBasco, and frankly, it's way better because you can tweak the sound exactly how you want. If you want more tips, just ask.

So, if you’re sitting there with an MP3 file and a matching .cdg file, you're basically gonna need a CDG plugin for Winamp to make anything happen.
I know there are a handful of them floating around out there—honestly, I can't even remember which specific one I ended up installing on my own rig back in the day...

They’ve got their own proprietary format too, and you actually have to pay up for individual tracks...
doesn't exactly scream "premium experience" to me...

I mean, can you even find stuff in that specific format on torrent sites?

Basically, Karaoke is more of a tool for DIY enthusiasts who want to build their own tracks; you just grab the lyrics for whatever song you're feeling, run it through the software, and within about three minutes—give or take the length of the track—you've got yourself a full karaoke video or at least a smaller file ready to go. Honestly, it would be such a game-changer if someone just started an American karaoke MP3 database, because I guarantee you it would blow up and hit at least a thousand songs within a month or two.

I actually went ahead and processed this one myself:
Fleetwood Mac - Landslide 😁

Hmm, I feel like nailing the timing on those lyrics is actually a massive headache,
maybe I’m just tripping and that software handles it perfectly...

I’ve put together this huge collection of MP3 Karaoke tracks—everything from pop to rock—but when it comes to the classic American standards
I usually just stick to MIDI files, which you can find a ton of all over the web if you bother to look...

Hey... I've been killing myself trying to get these settings dialed in, but I just can't get them right. 😢
Are you guys actually able to get those special American characters (like accented letters) to show up in Nashville?
Even when I go into the Nashville options and try to swap in an American font that works perfectly fine in something like VLC Media Player, nothing happens. It’s like the program isn't even listening to the font change. Anyone have any clue what's going on?
