Wrist pain - Carpal tunnel symptoms?

I am suffering from intense pain in my hand. I’ve received a diagnosis, and they’re telling me surgery is my only option because there is supposedly no other way to fix this. Has anyone here dealt with carpal tunnel syndrome before? Also, does anyone know of a highly skilled specialist in Chicago who could offer a second opinion or some actual help? I would truly appreciate any assistance you can provide!🤷

So, what's actually causing all this pain?

The EMG results show bilateral severe damage to the median nerve within the carpal tunnel, with the left side being particularly bad. Right now, my left hand—specifically the fingers—doesn't actually hurt anymore; instead, the pain has migrated to my right arm, radiating all the way from my fingers up to my elbow. I would appreciate any insight or help you all could offer.🙂

John Chase31, I actually had surgery on both of my hands at the Mayo Clinic. I guess it might be best to schedule an appointment with a neurosurgeon; maybe try calling the Mayo to see when their clinics are open and just go from there.

I mean, maybe just reach out to a plastic surgeon... they usually do those procedures under local anesthesia so you can pretty much just head home the same day, I guess.
