Has anyone actually watched these shows? I asked about them in my 'best horror series' thread, but it's just crickets over there... nothing from anyone... 🀷 So I figured I'd try asking this way instead...

I finally got that box set I ordered online, but I haven't even had a chance to crack it open yet. People keep telling me it’s a total mixed bagβ€”some killer episodes, but then some absolute bottom-of-the-barrel garbage...

I only caught one episode so far, and honestly? It seemed alright... though there were a ton of pretty gross scenes. I was just wondering if the rest of the series stays that intense... don't want to waste my time downloading the whole thing if it's just going to be non-stop gore.

Look, there are good picks and bad picks, but if you want my personal favorites, I’d say go with:

- Incident on an Interstate - it’s a bit of a more unconventional take on the slasher genre

- Jennifer - think Alfred Hitchcock vibes, but definitely not for anyone with a weak stomach

- Deer Woman - such a killer blend of horror and comedy

- John Carpenter's Cigarette Burns - honestly, it feels pretty similar to In the Mouth of Madness

As for everything else, it really just depends on what kind of mood you're inβ€”zombies, necrophilia, torture, witches, and all that good stuff...

I’ve sat through the first five episodes now, and I have to say, I’m just not feeling it. It isn't anything catastrophic, per se, but there's zero tension and it lacks any real grit or brutality. If I had to pin down why, the whole concept feels a bit derivative, almost like those later X-Files episodes you'd see after Mulder left the show. πŸ˜›

Started watching last week, hit about the eighth story. There’s honestly something for everyone here, though quality varies quite a bit depending on what kind of horror you actually like.

For me, H. P. Lovecraft's Dreams in The Witch-House worked because of that old-school vibe (even if the plot is predictable), along with Jennifer (disturbingly sexy😲) and John Carpenter's Cigarette Burns (The End of the World😁). Those were better than most.
I wasn't feeling Homecoming, felt like a dragged-out zombie satire, and Chocolate just wasted a great premise.

Overall, it’s decent. It just lacks a bit of gutsβ€”it doesn't really push any genre boundaries. It relies too much on shock value and gore😁.
