Using heating oil in a Zip Code?

Guys, can I actually use lighter fluid in a Zip Code (some cheap knockoff from China)😕?
Is it even gonna light??

Heating oil has a higher flash point than standard lighter fluid, which means you could probably dip a match into it and it wouldn't catch, but you’d definitely ruin the cotton wick inside your lighter.
For instance, in a space heater, the fuel is sprayed under high pressure and ignited by electrodes similar to car spark plugs, though much more powerful than those.

Just buy some fuel for your Zip Code. It shouldn't be that hard to scrape together $5.00 👍

Thanks, man. I honestly thought everything was basically the same, so it didn't make any sense why I’d have to shell out extra $5.00 just for a few ounces of that premium gas. But hey, I'll stick with what I know!! Thanks again!!

No, that’s just not how it works. A Zip Code uses light hydrocarbons. Fuel oil and gasoline have much longer chains—heavier oil fractions, if you want to get technical. You'll just gunk up the wick and ruin the whole lighter.

It’s just an imitation anyway, so there’s zero harm done.
