It’s with a heavy heart, but a sense of peace, that I’m letting everyone know my sister passed away last night. She went out quietly in her sleep.
She was a true fighter, and honestly, I couldn't be prouder of her.

My heart goes out to you all, and to anyone else who’s had to say goodbye to someone recently because of these disgusting diseases. It really sucks. I'm truly sorry. 😢

Thanks so much to everyone for the condolences and for all the support and comfort I’ve always found in this group!

I'll be posting the details on the association's forum next week regarding the items we're donating, like the Prozac and stuff.

Love you guys

🙂

Lung cancer frequently spreads to the brain, and it’s all too common for people to pass away within just three months of a diagnosis. Your dad beat those odds, and I truly believe that happened because of the incredible love and care you all poured into him. May he rest in peace, and may you find peace as you move forward, living your lives with pride.

As much as you are grieving this loss, try to believe that he is in a far more peaceful place now. I am so sorry things couldn't have turned out differently, and please accept my sincerest condolences.

My grandfather also passed away just six months after being diagnosed with lung cancer, and I know all too well how surreal it feels when a disease can strip someone away from their loved ones so incredibly fast...

Perhaps letting the thought that he fought hard, and that you stood by him with such courage, guide you through life might help... continue to stay strong... Kisses

Hey. My dad ended up in the ER today—which is actually surprising, given how hard it usually is to get them to take you seriously—because he started choking. It was either some kind of tumor wrapping around his neck or just an insane amount of mucus blocking his airway. They had to perform an emergency tracheotomy right then and there. The doctor mentioned that a massive amount of phlegm came out, and now they’re worried about pneumonia because of all that gunk. I was waiting for the chest X-ray results, but the doctor said they couldn't get a clear picture of the current situation since the scan was done before the procedure. He’ll be scanned again tomorrow. There’s definitely an infection, though; we could see it in his bloodwork. We actually went to the ER yesterday because his stomach was acting up, and while I was scrolling through his lab results online, I realized he already had some kind of inflammation going on. They put him on antibiotics, inserted a catheter, and told us he has to stay strictly bedridden for a few days. That part actually scares me. He’s always been such an active guy, and I’m worried that if he stays down like this, he won't bounce back as fast as usual. Plus, I'm terrified he’s going to pull out all those wires and tubes hooked up to him. The staff said I should only visit briefly because he needs total rest, but honestly, if he hadn't made it to the hospital today, he probably would have suffocated. I'm dreading what my favorite doctor 😠 is going to say when he does his rounds tomorrow,
I can already see him getting pissed off at why Dad showed up at this unit instead of heading straight to Morocco. But I have to say, the doctors on duty today and yesterday? Honestly, they were a pleasant surprise. Truly impressive work.

rapidbear8: I am so sorry. Everything seems to be happening way too fast with my dad, too.

I’ve been waiting on the lung scans, but the doctor explained the current images aren't fully conclusive since they were taken right before the procedure; they’ll run more imaging tomorrow. There is definitely inflammation present, which showed up in his blood work (we actually went to the ER yesterday because he was having stomach pains, and after I did a little digging through his lab results online, I realized he already had some sort of infection). They’ve started him on antibiotics, inserted a catheter, and told us he needs to stay strictly bedridden for a few days. That part actually worries me; he’s always been such an active guy, and I honestly don't know if he'll bounce back as quickly if he stays stationary for this long. Plus, I'm terrified he's going to pull out all those wires and tubes hooked up to him. The staff said I should only visit briefly because he needs total rest, but if he hadn't made it to the hospital today, he surely would have suffocated. I can already see him grumbling about why my dad didn't just go to Morocco instead. Honestly, though, the doctors on duty today and yesterday were fantastic; they really exceeded my expectations.

Just being by his side is enough. The most important thing is that the medical team did their job effectively.
My dad isn't exactly thrilled about being hospitalized either; he gets so incredibly cranky whenever we have to bring him to the hospital, but I'll do whatever I can to make things easier for him.
Just focus on being there for him as his support system, and leave the rest in God's hands.
Wishing you all the best—stay strong!

I can already picture him grumbling about why my father was admitted to this ward instead of being sent to Morocco. Honestly, though, the doctors on duty today and yesterday were surprisingly competent and actually quite pleasant...

Unfortunately, illness doesn't care about timing; it only cares about receiving adequate medical attention and support. While the pleasant surprises are welcome, I must admit that the priority remains the same: ensuring he receives the help he needs.

Let the doctor vent his frustrations about the admission process if he must, but you should strive to remain steady and composed, making it clear that the immediate care he is receiving is far more important than where he was originally supposed to go...

It is perfectly natural to be afraid, but you will navigate through this, and you will help your father find his strength again so he can fight his way back... I am wishing him a smooth recovery, so please, stay strong...

Kisses

Check out the psychology forum under the grief support thread. I know things feel absolutely brutal right now, but you’re going to pull through this. Head over there and talk to people. It was a lifeline for me when I was going through my own hell.

Thanks
my dad couldn't beat that nasty disease, but... I’m pulling for you and sending nothing but healing vibes!

from what I know, he had that micro... whatever it's called, and they say that specific type is the absolute worst.😢
it was even harder for him because surgery wasn't an option (for his lungs)—his spirometry showed he was way too weak, and there was no way he'd survive anesthesia.
they did brain surgery on him in NYC using Gamma Knife, but the lungs... yeah, we were stuck there.
he was a little guy, but man, he was tough as nails and fierce.😢
my family knew (mom and my brother) and the doctor told them straight up he had about 6 months left, but they shielded me from that brutal truth, so I'm just finding out now.
Dad was such a fighter. He never complained, never whined... cancer just couldn't break him. Before the chemo started, he was doing perfectly fine... seriously, just two months ago we were out riding motorcycles together, and then... day by day, it was just something new... a total shock for me, and for him too, when he woke up one morning in the hospital and said, "I can't feel my legs." It was horrific... numbness... the neurologist said it happened because it spread to the bone.
The day before, he fell into a coma. I kept nudging him, but nothing... he's breathing, but he doesn't feel anything... not even that intense pain. Thankfully!! People say he can still hear me... so I talked to him, kissed him... I even left some music playing for him.
I keep asking Mom how much longer a heart can take this kind of stress. Around 8 PM that night, his heart just stopped... and Dad just drifted off. He's not hurting anymore. ................

😢😢

I recently lost my dad to pancreatic cancer, and honestly, those nine months were just an absolute, exhausting uphill battle. We all know that gut-wrenching feeling—that desperate wish where you’d give anything to trade places just to save them, but you can't. So, to everyone else currently in the thick of it, I am sending you so much, so much strength to hold on; please don't lose hope, because miracles really do happen. The doctors told my dad he wouldn't even make it out of the hospital, yet we somehow fought for eight more incredible months together. Every single day felt like a tiny, beautiful miracle. Even though he's gone now, I truly feel him right there beside me, watching over me.
