Suspected herpetic keratitis: any advice?

So, about a week ago, my ophthalmologist gave me a diagnosis of suspected herpetic keratitis after an exam, and they set me on a regimen of Tobrex 3 x daily along with Virolex 5 x daily. I’ve been sticking to that treatment for about six days now, but honestly, the redness in my eyes is still quite noticeable—it hasn't really cleared up much at all.
During my follow-up appointment, the doctor's take was that there's just some slight irritation left, with some mild marginal shadowing on the cornea and significant trophic changes, mostly appearing as spotting on the right side, though the anterior segment looks okay. For now, the prescribed therapy has shifted to Systane tears and Systane.
Has anyone else here dealt with this kind of eye inflammation before?

I actually went through the exact same diagnosis a few years back, and I ended up using those same creams too. While the redness eventually cleared up, I was left with this weird, sort of "puckered scar" right in the corner of my eye. Did you end up with something similar? And if so, do you happen to know if there's any way to actually get rid of it?

I’ve been dealing with keratitis since I was just a toddler. Back in the day, flare-ups used to hit me twice a month like clockwork, though lately, I can go years without a single issue. Sadly, after fourteen years of fighting this, there’s permanent scarring left behind, leaving me with only about 10% vision in that eye.
Recently, my inflammations have been lasting roughly ten days at a time. Naturally, I’ve been using Pfizer and Tobrex to manage the symptoms.
The scarring itself could potentially be addressed through a corneal transplant, but there’s always that lingering shadow of worry that the herpes will resurface, since it stays tucked away in your system forever. My doctors suggested that it’s better to hold off until I hit 18, as performing a transplant too early carries its own set of risks.
At the end of the day, the most critical thing is keeping a close eye on the immune system, because these episodes really tend to strike whenever your immunity takes a dip.
