So, I’ve been wrestling with this issue for a few years now—and honestly, I can't tell if it's just my own psychological makeup or something more physical... but the reality is that I simply cannot fall asleep unless I eat something at least thirty minutes before hitting the hay. It sounds ridiculous, doesn't it? I’ll lie down, absolutely exhausted from a long day at the office, but after about fifteen minutes of tossing and turning, I’m wide awake—as alert as an owl. I even had one instance where I didn't sleep a single wink all night, only finally passing out around 6:00 AM once I got up to grab a snack.
And when I say I eat, I really mean I *eat*... I'm talking about a couple of sandwiches or maybe some heavy deli sausages. I have tried the "healthy" route—switching to Corn Flakes or some light granola to avoid heavy food right before bed—but it never works. If I wake up in the middle of the night, the hunger hits me full force, and I find myself forced to get back up and eat again just to settle down.
It’s becoming quite a nuisance, frankly. The cycle of lying there, failing to sleep, getting up to eat, and repeating the process is exhausting. Plus, I have this nagging worry that it isn't particularly healthy—I'm terrified I might start putting on weight, even though my current weight is fairly steady at about 165 pounds at 5'8".
Does anyone have any sensible thoughts or perhaps some practical advice on how to handle this?
