So, a buddy of mine sent over some data files, but they’re stuck in this weird format that I just can't seem to crack using Word, and even my Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0 isn't cooperating at all. I was wondering if anyone here might be able to point me in the right direction—like, does anyone actually know which specific software I could use to open this particular file? It’s just plain old data, nothing fancy or multimedia-heavy, just straight information. Thanks much!

Google rocks!🙂

1. Head over to the Control Panel and hit that “Uninstall a program” link found in the Programs section.
2. Find Microsoft Office 2007—keep an eye out, it might be labeled as Ultimate, Enterprise, Professional, Small business, or Home and Student.
3. Look for the “Change” option sitting in the navigation bar near the top of the window and click it.
4. Pick “Add or Remove Features,” then just click “Continue.”
5. Expand “ Office Tools ” section.
6. Open the drop-down menu for “Microsoft Office Document Imaging” and choose “Run all from My Computer.”
7. Hit “Continue.”
8. Once the install finishes, just click “Close.”

Well, I’m still stuck using Office 2003 myself... 🙂

So, I just gave it another shot, and now it’s actually asking me to pop in a CD that I don't even own, which is just great, and to top it all off, it's demanding that I hunt down some .msi proplus file inside the OFFICE folder—a file that, quite frankly, simply isn't there...

You’re gonna need to install Adobe Acrobat using that old Microsoft Office disc you don't have lying around 😁. Maybe try borrowing one from a buddy...

Give the Start menu a quick scan—All Programs > Microsoft Office > productivity software. There's a tiny chance it's already sitting there on your machine, though I wouldn't bet on it. If it were actually installed, it would've set up those .mdi file associations and just popped open automatically, you know?
