Hi, I'm looking for a device to bridge my PC and TV for video, while also hooking up to a receiver for audio...

Right now, I'm dealing with two separate setups, and honestly, the cable mess is driving me insane. I'm using wireless for the sound, but the constant hassle of getting it to pair is just a massive pain. It’s far from practical...

I've been browsing eBay, but I'm totally lost. I really don't want to throw $150 at some random piece of junk that I don't even understand...

Any advice would be appreciated. 🙂

It might be helpful if you could let us know which laptop you're actually using—specifically the manufacturer and the exact model number, which should be right there on the sticker on the bottom. Also, any info on which receiver you've got would be great.

So, my laptop is just hooked up via HDMI directly to the receiver, and the receiver sends the signal to the TV just fine—it’s basically mirroring whatever the laptop is pushing out... which, honestly, who even cares? Like, what am I supposed to do with that extra screen info anyway? It's just sitting there, useless if you ask me 😁.

The receiver and the TV are already linked up 🤷
.
Basically, everything is running through one single cable. Give it a shot, might work for you too 🤷
.
(My setup is a Denon AVR-S570BT, the laptop is a Dell—and yeah, it's a total piece of junk—but I don't think that really matters as long as it has an HDMI port, and the TV is just some ancient LG model, if that even makes a difference at all)

The laptop's a Dell ProBook 450, and the receiver is a Samsung Receiver.

Which TV are we actually talking about here?

My mistake, the TV is a Samsung 32-inch TV... It’s hardly cutting-edge tech, but it does have most of what you actually need these days.

Did you try that setup I suggested—hooking the laptop up to the receiver and then straight to the TV—just to see if the signal actually makes its way through to the screen like that? 🤷

I think I might give that a shot today... how did you manage to connect the receiver to the TV and still get the signal from the laptop?

-It’s a mess. I’ve got interference between my laptop and the receiver just because of that audio device. 🤷

The receiver’s hooked up to the TV via one standard HDMI cable, and then there's another basic HDMI cable running from the laptop straight into the receiver.

It all sounds flashy, but I couldn't care less about cables. Give me a wireless setup any day—I want to skip the clutter and the extra HDMI mess entirely.
