What are the criteria for choosing moderators?

Just out of curiosity, I was wondering what specific criteria are used when selecting moderators for this platform... and on a separate note, do you believe a moderator here should possess a fundamental grasp of American grammar and spelling?

One should aim for excellence—ideally being grammatically sound, helpful, and focused on fostering constructive dialogue through meaningful posts. 🙂

So, looking at the flowchart above, it’s pretty obvious how this works: some moderators get their training from Yoda, while others answer directly to Palpatine.
The choice basically depends on which subforum they’re being tapped to moderate. For instance, if you're looking at Politics, Law, or Teens, those mods always report to the Emperor.
Meanwhile, the folks handling PZ or Literature? They go through Yoda.
As for the BR or OT sections, there aren't even any specific criteria in place.
