San Diego, October 2nd, 1 PM - 3 PM

To our community: the next registration drive for the National Marrow Donor Program will take place in San Diego this Friday, October 2nd. We will be hosted at the Democratic Party of Šibenik-Knin County offices located at 24 Woodrow Wilson St.
The registry is open to any healthy individual between the ages of 18 and 40. The process involves completing an access form and a medical questionnaire, followed by a blood sample for HLA typing—the standard method for determining tissue compatibility.
Every drive serves a purpose; the cure often starts with us. By joining the registry, you become a potential lifesaver. Bone marrow transplants are vital for treating patients battling acute or chronic leukemia, as well as those facing severe bone marrow failure.
Please join us in California during these upcoming drives. Every single new donor added to the registry directly improves the odds of survival for those in need.

Hey,
So I see they let you do blood typing at Petrov 3 too...
Just wondering if there's actually any difference between going there or hitting up the Mayo Clinic—is it all the same deal?
Do I need to call ahead for either spot?
Thanks

Man, more than 10 years ago, I just showed up at the Mayo Clinic without even calling ahead—just knocked on the door and they actually let me in. They took a sample from me, though I can't really recall if there was some long questionnaire or whatever... it was all pretty quick.

Quick question for anyone out there who's been a donor: have you actually heard anything from the recipient after those two years pass? You know, once that mandatory waiting period is over.
