Upcoming film festivals

man, there are so many of them just popping up all over America lately..
it feels like a new one sprouts up every single week. heard about the latest one happening out in Columbus recently.

what's the consensus on these things? any favorites? you guys actually bother showing up to them?

The only one I bother with—mostly just because it's close to home—is the Sundance Film Festival, kicking off June 29th.

Anyone hit up the Telluride Film Festival lately? What was the lineup actually like?

That Cleveland scene isn't even news anymore... This year alone we've seen TED, South by Southwest, and the Independent Film Festival launch up. 😘

And apparently, they were having some trouble with the rain down in Memphis.

I honestly don't see why people are making such a massive deal out of this—it’s just one movie. I mean, sure, the cinematography was decent enough, but let's be real: the plot had more holes than a cheap pair of jeans. It felt like they spent the entire budget on lighting and forgot to actually hire a decent screenwriter. I remember sitting through a similar disaster back in Chicago a few years ago—some indie flick that tried way too hard to be "deep"—and this gave me that exact same sense of wasted time. I didn't make it—it’s just too far for me, and honestly, the ticket prices were a bit steep to begin with. But the real kicker? The absolute dealbreaker? I couldn't even get my vacation days approved at work. It's just one of those things. 😬 To me, it honestly feels like the most powerhouse lineup in the entire country—it's easily the strongest festival we have going on.
