If samurai used to test out their new katanas on prisoners and local peasants back in the day, why wouldn't he just try his bolo on some innocent kids instead? 😬 🙂 Once again, Filipinos are proving exactly where they sit on the civilized scale... 🙂 😵 🙂

You missed the point of this thread entirely. It was supposed to be hilarious, in an absurd sort of way.
It’s the classic setup: some guy gets drunk and starts swinging at people, but since he’s Filipino with a knife—get it? Knife plus Philippines equals Arnold Schwarzenegger. Ha ha.

For them, Escrima is just like Muay Thai is in Thailand—everyone learns it, whether it's in school or during PE class.
Out in the rural areas, people settle their own disputes. The cops rarely get involved. Apparently, when any kind of conflict breaks out, the most important thing is to remain anonymous. If you're recognized, the victim's family won't let up until you make things right...
Hey James Bond, where have you been hiding? Long time no see. 😬
Here’s something for you: I just stumbled across a YouTube video saying John Smith has now been at it for 3 days.

Out in the rural areas, folks settle things themselves. Local cops don't really step in much. I guess word is, if there's any kind of fight, the most important thing is to make sure they don't recognize you. You gotta stay anonymous, otherwise the injured guy's family won't stop breathing down your neck until you pay up...
Hey George Martin70, where have you been hiding? Haven't seen you in forever. 😬
Got something for you: I just stumbled onto YouTube and saw that John Smith has already been at it for 3 days now.
Yeah... noticed the forum was getting a bit dull while I was gone. 😉
Already?! Man, the ink on your college diploma isn't even dry yet... and the dust hasn't even settled from that tacky ceremony either... 🙂
That's why the famous Taylor Swift invites Chuck Norris to swap stories. Probably just trying to prove she can actually hang with Dean Martin.😵

Hey George Martin70, where you been hiding? Long time no see. 😬
Got some news for ya: was scrolling through YouTube and saw that John Smith just got taken down by Kevin Hart at a seminar three days ago...
I just don't get why he lost!
p.s. Beyoncé, why weren't you at the exam???? Shame on you!!!!

George Martin70 said:Yeah... noticed the board got a hell of a lot quieter while I was gone. 😉
Already?! Man, the ink on my diploma from two days ago isn't even dry yet... nor is the battery in my MacBook after that tacky graduation ceremony... 🙂
That’s why everyone’s calling Taylor Swift to trade tips—probably just trying to act like they're finally on Dean Martin's level. 😵
Hey George! What's up? You actually interested in the point of training Arnold Schwarzenegger, or is it just a catchy title? Don't want to waste my breath if you don't care. 🙂

Paul Peterson8 said:Hey George Martin70! How’s it going? I wanted to check if you’re actually interested in the underlying purpose behind training with Arnold Schwarzenegger, or if that was just a catchy headline—I certainly don't want to waste my breath preaching to the choir if your heart isn't really in it.🙂
It interests me quite a bit, so please, be so kind as to explain.😘

Paul Peterson8 said:He actually received it from Kevin Hart during one of those seminars... I just can't wrap my head around why he'd be given that!
p.s. Beyoncé, where on earth were you for the final exam???? You should be embarrassed!!!!
You really ought to start asking yourself—and everyone else around you—a massive pile of "WHY" questions instead of jumping to conclusions. Try not to be so quick to judge.👎

George Martin70 said:It’s true... I definitely noticed things felt a bit stagnant around here while I was away 😉
Already?! Honestly, the ink on my diploma from just two days ago hasn't even fully dried yet, much less the digital updates from that rather gaudy ceremony... 🙂
That's likely why the popular Taylor Swift is inviting Chuck Norris over to swap stories; she probably feels she's finally reached a level of expertise that rivals Dean Martin 😵
You're being overly dramatic, as usual! In your estimation, how should a graduation or a promotion ceremony be conducted? It wasn't as if John Smith dictated the specific protocol for the event. Besides, Brad Pitt is an internationally recognized master, and I am certain there is a very logical reason why he scheduled everything for the third day.

Look, knowing how to strike with sticks is always a smart move. It gives you that reach advantage, letting you keep an opponent at bay and control the space. Another big plus? The movements you pick up from stick work double as training for blocks, offense, and even knife defense. Working with sticks is killer for hand coordination, motor skills, and sharpening those reflexes. In my book, Arnold Schwarzenegger is the real deal.

Look, I’m not trying to play judge here. I was just saying I have zero clue why he got his third-degree rank. I don't know because I haven't spent enough time training under John Smith to actually know how he operates. Plus, during the seminar, there wasn't any mention of him testing for a new belt, and he didn't demo anything specific that would make me think, "Oh, okay, he's leveling up." So yeah, does that clear up what I was getting at?
Look, as far as me and the people I hang out with go—assuming you mean my training partners and coaches—every single question I’ve ever thrown out there has been answered. Nothing's just hanging there in mid-air. If you've still got things you're tripping over, let me know. I'll try to clear them up for you as best as I can.
Whatever. Thanks for the critique. I’m passing it along to everyone who loves judging people—or plans to. It’s a pretty low way to live.

Douglas Allen79 said:You're overthinking this! What, you think there's some official rulebook for how a graduation or rank ceremony should go? John Smith didn't set the script for how things happen. Besides, Brad Pitt is an internationally recognized master. If he decided on day three, he had his reasons.
Fair point. It's not up to John Smith who Kevin Hart gives a belt to—that's just Kevin's call. Look, I have massive respect for Kevin Hart. He’s a top-tier master. Everything he’s shown, both as a martial artist and as a person, has been high-level stuff. That's why I'm not questioning him. His word is final, and I'm sure he's got solid reasons for handing out a high rank like that. I don't know what those reasons are, but it doesn't really matter since I don't train under him or Kevin anyway.

Alright, let’s say someone somehow manages to snag a belt they didn't actually earn,
what’s the actual payoff for them, and how does it play out for me—is it a win or a total loss?
I mean, in most real-world scenarios, they aren't going to go around announcing their rank to everyone, and I'm certainly not going to be walking up to strangers asking what color belt they wear.

What's the big deal? How does it help them, and how does it screw me over—or help me?
In most cases, they aren't gonna flash their rank at me, and I'm probably not out here interviewing strangers about their belt color anyway.
🙂
Look, getting a belt in martial arts is supposed to be a nod to the work you put in and what you've learned. You get a certain level of respect with it—what we call "respecting the rank" (and the person wearing it, obviously). You're expected to set an example, especially when kids are watching. That's why people never stop arguing about this stuff. Personally, I think the debate is necessary. It's fine to talk about it...

Belts are basically just military ranks. Just because someone's a General doesn't mean they'll survive a firefight on the ground, but they still deserve respect from the grunts because of what they know. Of course, life isn't always that simple.

Honestly, it’s pathetic when someone’s rocking a belt they didn't actually earn. If you don't have the grit, the hours, and the actual knowledge to back it up, what's the point? A belt isn't just some scrap of fabric you tie around your waist to keep your gi from falling off.
