Windows is supposed to disable Aero automatically if the GPU can't handle it, but if it doesn't, just turn it off yourself because it absolutely drains your memory. Plus, some pirated games won't even run; they just crash during installation. Everything looks fine and the features are there, but honestly, I still prefer Windows XP. Not just for the gaming, but because the driver support is way better. There's a massive lack of drivers for Vista right now.

Just make sure you unplug your modem or router or whatever so the thing can't touch the internet. If you're using a pirated version of Windows Vista, just install it without a serial key. If you actually bought it, obviously use the serial. And hey, if you've got a pirated copy, you can just find some Vista activator online to bypass the trial stuff and activate Windows.
Once it's installed, go into My Computer, hit properties, and check what kind of system rating you get. If the score is higher than a 3, then your junker is fine for Windows Vista. But if it's a 2 or lower? Man, just wipe Windows Vista and go back to Windows XP. There’s zero point trying to run Windows Vista on a piece of junk with a low rating.

That’s how I handle things too—just poking around my computer and Windows Vista, trying to run programs, messing up installations, making mistakes. I guess that's the only way to actually learn anything. And yeah, maybe 40GB sounded like a lot to me, which is why I brought it up. Now I realize that because of a botched installation, I probably won't be able to get AutoCAD or Photoshop to work. I'm hoping your explanation helps, but if I can't figure it out on my own, I'll just call in a professional. Next time, I'll avoid seeking help from people who might laugh at me just because I don't know my way around Windows Vista. Take care. 👋
