I’m curious about stomach capacity. Is there some kind of standard average for men? I wonder if there’s an actual way to calculate it. If I recall correctly from my elementary school science classes, the stomach can stretch quite a bit because the tissue is so elastic. What I'm really looking for is the volume of the stomach when it isn't being pushed to the limit—is there a sort of "baseline" volume occupied by a constant inventory of food and fluids that always takes up space?

Are we talking about abdominal volume or stomach capacity?
If you mean the abdomen, I guess you're basically looking at all your guts and organs collectively 🤣
But the stomach... well, once it processes food and moves everything along to the intestines, it should be empty, right? And yeah, it's elastic, that's true. If you're always eating huge meals and then suddenly cut back, you'll definitely feel that emptiness—like you "need" to eat more just to feel normal. At least, that's how it works for me. 🙂

I finally tracked down the answer the other day: one liter is considered a standard volume, though it can expand up to four liters, and about 100ml of that is actually stomach acid.
