I’ve been dealing with this brutal insomnia lately—everything seems fine until around 7 or 8 PM, and then suddenly I’m wide awake and wired, unable to drift off until 5 in the morning. I manage to squeeze in an hour of sleep before heading into work, feeling absolutely exhausted—just completely wiped out—but I push through the shift, get home, and then at 7 or 8 PM again, there’s this sudden surge of adrenaline and energy... and the cycle repeats. It’s been going on for over six months now. I even tried crashing immediately after work, but the second my head hits the pillow, I’m fully alert and awake.

I’ve tried just about everything—drinking, staying sober, skipping meals, eating more, even popping all sorts of pills that would probably knock out a horse—but nothing works.

Does anyone have any advice, ideas, or even just a suggestion? Anything at all!

If you actually looked like your avatar, or maybe if you went by the name Scooby-Doo 😬 , then I might actually bother writing a whole essay about it..

But since you don't, and you've got those old threads lying around proving it

If you’re physically healthy, you still have to get your head right. I can't seem to get my mental state sorted for the life of me, so at this rate, I'll be celebrating the 12th anniversary of my insomnia very soon. 👋

Go ahead and try to get worked up😎 ....but honestly, I’d probably suggest you see a therapist instead...

I’ve gone through a few boxes of Normabal myself—though, honestly, I haven't found much relief from insomnia or stress... it doesn't even seem to have a calming effect on me, let alone make me feel drowsy

...I'm right there with you. I've tried basically every sleep aid under the sun, but nothing actually lets me sleep through the night like a normal person should...

It’s just become my chronic reality. Honestly, I feel like the only person out there who hasn't had a decent night's rest in five years... 🙄

Ugh, more pills... Have you guys even tried tea or some Valerian drops?

If those don't knock you out, I honestly don't know what else to tell you.

It isn’t even just the lack of sleep itself—it’s how much it wrecks your social life and emotional stability. Between the constant jitters and being perpetually on edge, you end up taking it out on everyone else in the house when you're pacing around at 4 AM—though, honestly, if I actually try to stay still, the boredom just drives me insane...

I even tried some Valerian tincture, but it didn't do a thing for me. It seems like almost nothing targeting the nervous system works—whether it's something stronger or even just standard stuff like Advil or Voltaren—nothing seems to have any effect on my system whatsoever.

I've actually tried all sorts of herbal stuff before—hops, St. John's Wort, things like that... nothing really worked for me...

I've heard those teas help plenty of people, but honestly, with a chronic case like this, it feels like nothing "natural" is going to cut it😠

Still, I might give that Valerian a shot; I hear it acts like a mild sedative...

Looks like I’ve officially joined the club. 😁
I’ve been stuck in this loop for years now, and honestly, I’ve tried every single thing mentioned here. For me, taking Valerian feels about as effective as sipping a glass of plain water.
I just sit there staring at my computer screen until sleep finally decides to show up—which, naturally, happens around 6 AM. Everything is fine if I don't have to be up early, but otherwise...

I'll sit at my desk—just staring at the screen, really—waiting until I finally start feeling drowsy, which, of course, usually happens around 6:00 AM. It’s fine if I don't have to be up early, but otherwise...

🙂 I feel a bit better knowing I'm not alone 😘
