Just because she covered a bunch of Dylan songs and had a bit of a thing for him doesn't mean they were on the same page about everything. πŸ˜‰

And honestly, I didn't start this thread just because of the showβ€”the concert was really just the excuse to get talking. πŸ™‚

I’m still reeling from the experience, and I'm actually still in Washington, D.C.πŸ™‚ So, I won't dive into a full analysis just yet, but I can tell you this: it was hands down the most beautiful concert I have ever attended. It was so packed with emotion (at least for me) that I was actually tearing up while we all sang Amazing Grace together... simply breathtaking. I didn't want to leave the venue; I could have sat there listening for days. I've got some photos and videos, but I'll share those once I'm back home... cheers, everyone.

I'm glad someone decided to start this thread.πŸ™‚

Does anyone happen to know the date Joan Baez performed in Washington, D.C. back in the early '90s?

She was in Boston on March 14, 1993, and hit NYC right after her return, so it was sometime around then. I don't have the specific date, though.

Thanks... I was certain it was 1992, but my son is making me reconsider.🀣

So, I uploaded my recordings to YouTube (apparently I'm the only one doing this!?). For Diamonds and Rust and Music Playlist, I just recorded the audio on a digital recorder on my knee, then slapped some photos over it to make a video... though if anyone actually wants the stills, I can upload those separately!

Love is just a four letter word 😁

The audio quality isn't exactly top-tier, but hey, what can you do when you have to hide the mic after those people were ushered out during the next song? (They certainly made a scene...).

Joan Baez played in Washington, D.C. on April 10, 1993, right near Times Square. There’s actually a really great video recording from an American TV station available. Right after that show, she flew out that afternoon to Miami, and then took a military plane over to Boston.

Only two pages on Joan Baez? That seems insufficient, I suppose.

I recently learned about her lovely connection to Mimi Farina and her husband Richard, who passed away tragically just three years into their marriage. I felt compelled to share this little discovery with all of you.

They were wonderful. πŸ™‚

And one prison duet by two lovely women 😍

Bumping this thread after almost a year since I shared the most tender protest song ever written. 😍

So, anywayβ€”Baez had actually announced a show shortly after that 2008 dateβ€”it was supposed to be at Carnegie Hall; apparently, it got "postponed," but it just never actually happened. Honestly, I’m starting to get the feeling she might not be making her way over to this side of the pond again anytime soon. 😒

She’s incredible. Personally, I think Diamonds and Rust is her absolute best work from that era.

Quote: This week in Washington, D.C., Joan Baez kicked off her first US tour in 25 years with a sell-out concert at the grand theater downtown. Beyond just being one of the absolute legends of folk music, she really does seem to have stood right at the center of nearly every major political movement in America in the past half century. She sat down with Mike Sexton to talk through her incredible life and all those historic moments.

Some folks see things not everybody can see πŸ™‚

Bringing this back from the dead, but she’s finally coming to NYC 😍. Ever since I realized a day late back in '08 that she had actually been in town, I've been holding out hope for a returnβ€”and now it's actually happening. Now if I can just get my credit card statement to clear so I can grab a ticket πŸ™‚.

I absolutely love her, though like most people, I'm probably more familiar with the classics than anything recent div>

It’s already a day ahead here in New York City. You can find decent seats for about 42 bucks, which isn't much different from what you'd pay back home. I just hope it doesn't turn into a total disaster like that Donovan situation last yearβ€”they tried to shove him into a massive arena, the ticket sales were pathetic, and the whole show ended up being canceled right after I went out and snagged front-row seats. 😬

The venue is at the local student centerβ€”it’s a pretty small hall. I checked the seating chart, and they've only moved about 30 tickets so far, but there's still plenty of time left, so I'm hoping for a full house 😁.
In honor of that, I just pulled up my JB Music Playlist; she's absolutely wonderful div>

It’s happening over at the union hall. It seems the organizers finally grew a brain after that absolute train wreck involving Donovan - http://www.popboks.com/article/29539

I am just so incredibly excited for this concert. I’ve been a fan for years. Heading out there solo, and honestly? I think it’s going to be amazing 😍
