driftingcyclist303 said:🙏 Look, people, someone incredibly close to me is suffering from anorexia! What are the symptoms? It’s like this: she’s skinny, weighing only about 95 pounds at 5'7"! She vomits—she intentionally makes herself throw up twice a day; she eats a ton, then purges it all. Either she’s terrified of what she’s going to eat, or she overeats and then throws up everything just so she doesn't gain weight. On the flip side, people with bulimia find refuge in food and are usually overweight rather than thin! The diagnosis of anorexia was made by a psychiatrist, not by me!

Look, you clearly didn't read carefully, but I explained the parallel between bulimia-anorexia several times above.
To actually participate in a forum debate, you sometimes (mostly) need to read responses with a bit of comprehension, you know?🙄
The doctor gave your friend an accurate diagnosis. She has anorexia, which is driven, among other things, by bulimia. People with bulimia don't "find refuge" in food like you claimed; they binge, and then out of pure guilt and the fear of gaining weight, they stick their fingers down their throats to induce vomiting. This prevents the food from being digested—essentially stopping the body from absorbing that energy. Furthermore, vomiting triggers a hormone release in the brain that creates a sense of calm afterward, and it's scientifically proven that you can develop an addiction to that hormonal sensation. You see, the bulimia-anorexia issue is incredibly complex.
Do a little Googling; you'll find mountains of data. Educate yourself a bit.👍
Here are two links from Wikipedia:

Hopefully, these texts will clarify the terms for you. Just please, read them with some actual understanding.🙂

🙂I don't need to "Google" anything to get a better handle on bulimia-anorexia—honestly, I think I have way more actual experience under my belt than any of you.

😲 Honestly, I’m just speechless. Reading statements like that is genuinely uncomfortable. 🙈

Do you think it's actually possible for someone struggling with bulimia-anorexia to fully recover?
I’ve heard that anorexia is notoriously difficult to overcome, but my sense is that the success rate for bulimia-anorexia might be slightly higher.

So, while I believe recovery is within reach, the big question remains: how does one actually get there, and what kind of timeline are we looking at?

Has anyone here navigated this process or had any firsthand experience with it?

Look, I know exactly what bulimia-anorexia is, and I know the difference between bulimia and anorexia—I have zero intention of dragging this conversation any further with you people.

I know exactly what bulimia-anorexia is, and I have absolutely no interest in continuing this conversation with any of you.

No, you really don't.

It’s honestly wild to me that people like this actually exist...😬

It’s just like standing next to a map of the world and trying to convince an annoyed toddler that Brazil is in Africa...

It’s genuinely staggering that some people actually exist. 😬

It is exactly like standing next to a map and insisting, with all the stubbornness of a toddler, that Brazil is in Africa.

Yes, just a spoiled brat who has decided, out of pure spite, to stop playing with the kids on the block.😬

I know anorexia is almost impossible to beat, but I feel like there might be a better shot at recovery with bulimia.

So, I know it's doable, but how? How long does it take...

Has anyone here dealt with this or gone through it?

Bulimia, anorexia... honestly, it doesn't matter. It's all the same crap. They're basically two sides of the same coin and they're super closely linked. Like, you start with bulimia, try to get it under control, but since you aren't gaining any weight, you end up sliding right into anorexia... it’s just a straight line from point A to point B.
...people actually stuck in that hell understand this. Everyone else is just talking out of their ass...
