They’re telling me my calcium metabolism is off, and I don't really get what that means. Supposedly, you can't have an excess because it just gets flushed out through your stool, but if there's actually a deficiency, then what?
What are the best products? Food?
Advice, help!

What was the actual basis for diagnosing the calcium metabolism disorder?

Based on the routine checkup, my own experience, and the X-ray of my shoulder... I mean, I know it’s a small amount of data, but the thought that I might have to undergo every single test imaginable 😲

Isn't that essentially the same thing as osteoporosis?

How old are you, if you don't mind me asking?
If we're actually dealing with something along those lines, it’s certainly nothing to take lightly. It would probably be worth getting some additional testing done so you can adjust your diet and follow some professional medical guidance accordingly.

This might be worth looking into:

It’s pretty straightforward—if you're running low on calcium, your body just starts raiding its own stash, like pulling from your bones or gut. Calcium does a ton of heavy lifting in our system, plus it's actually the most abundant mineral we've got.
You can definitely end up with too much calcium, but it's usually not because you're overdoing it in your diet. It's more likely because you're missing certain things needed to process it properly, like B-complex vitamins.
If your body is screaming for more calcium and you aren't getting enough through food, you can bet that bone-stripping process is happening.
Just a heads up though, arthritis tends to show up before osteoporosis does.😉
Are you maybe playing any sports where steroids come into play?👎 Or perhaps you're on some kind of corticosteroids?

I'm 47 now. About 15 years back, I was on heavy doses of corticosteroids for three years because of collagenosis.
Maybe that’s the culprit.
When I had my shoulder X-rayed, the report basically said they couldn't get a clear reading because of existing osteoporotic changes.
On top of all that, I lost my period five years ago, so maybe the hormonal imbalance is driving these issues too.

p.s. Horay, I'm actually reading that article you sent over right now.
