I used to rely on DVD Decrypter and WinZip to rip my discs. Lately, I've been hitting more and more walls where they just won't work anymore. I'm curious—what tools are you guys actually using these days, and are they worth the trouble?

I personally stick with DVDFab Platinum for everything; I just use it to rip all my discs

Does anyone know where I can pick up a copy of DVDFab Platinum, and is it something you have to pay for?
I’ve been running into similar hurdles lately whenever I try to deal with more recent movie releases.

I usually just stick with CloneDVD

it’s actually decent... pretty quick too

The magic word is TORRENT

Just type DVDFab Platinum torrent into Google and boom—there you go.
I managed to track down the latest version, 3.0.8.0, fully unlocked.

You’ll obviously need a little help to actually run them. If you're using Opera, it handles everything natively, but if not, just grab uTorrent.

Yeah, I'm telling you, just use DVDFab Platinum. It rips a dual-layer DVD in under 40 minutes 🙏 and honestly, there are tons of options. You can pick exactly what you want to keep or toss, split one DVD onto multiple discs if you feel like it, and mess around with different compression levels and formats. Basically, it's just super simple and super efficient. You can grab the trial version from the latest issue of PC Mag...

So, I finally got my hands on DVDFab Platinum, and it managed to burn exactly what WinZip couldn't handle. My sincere thanks to everyone for the help.
It really is an impressive bit of software; the sheer number of options available is quite something.
On my machine, the process takes a bit longer than expected, especially since I'm working with a single LG DVD-RW.
I do have one more question regarding the workflow: when I’m burning a disc, the software first reads the data and creates an image, then ejects the disc so I can insert a blank one to begin the actual burn. That part works fine. The issue is that I can't touch anything else on my computer while this is happening—I even have to disable my screensaver. If any other task starts up, the whole copying process freezes completely, forcing me to hard-reboot the system just to get things back to normal.
For reference, here is my current setup:
Intel Pentium 4
ASUS A8N series
2x256 MB RAM
ATI Radeon X700 Seagate Barracuda 160
Maxtor 160 GB UDMA 133 IDE
LG DVD-RW

I've received conflicting advice, with some suggesting the processor is the bottleneck and others pointing toward the RAM.😕
I am planning to upgrade to 2x1024 MB of higher-quality RAM very soon, and I'm wondering if that will partially alleviate this issue, or if I'll still run into these walls once I start using X2.😕

I'm running an Intel Pentium 4 2.4

Got 512MB of generic RAM at 400MHz

GPU is pretty weak too, just an old ATI 9500 with 64MB

Hard drive is a Maxtor 120GB

But look, it handled 7GB using a few DVDs in maybe 40 minutes or so... honestly, I have no clue...

Later!

I would suggest downloading Nero Smart Start; it’s really your best bet here. If you can't find it online, try asking around your neighborhood—I'm sure someone nearby has it on a disc somewhere.

Just rip the DVD using Near! It’s honestly the easiest way to go.

Haha, I don't think that would work. Nero isn't going to be able to copy whatever it is that maxim_grimm is trying to grab.
