I drink a ton of coffee. Honestly, too much. Sometimes I’ll knock back two or three cups before I even think about eating anything. Everyone tells me I’m asking for trouble and that I'll eventually wreck my stomach, but so far, I haven't felt a single issue.
Is coffee really that bad on an empty stomach?

I mean, I’m not sure if it counts as a public health crisis or whatever, but I am pretty certain that three coffees in a row is pushing it—not to mention it's probably terrible for you on an empty stomach...

I’ve always been this way, I guess.
Obviously, it's not good for you—caffeine eats away at your stomach lining. They say you can even end up with an ulcer.
I actually dealt with some pretty bad gastritis for a while, so I went totally cold turkey on smoking and coffee for a solid 7 or 8 years.
But now? I'm right back to my old habits: espresso, lattes, drip... just waiting for my stomach to stage another protest.
☕(On my third nap since this morning)😉

I’ll just have one on an empty stomach and honestly, I haven't felt any side effects so far

Same here... haven't run into any issues yet.
Though I can't get my mom to stop repeating that one line:
'Every cup of coffee takes a little bit out of your bones.'

Honestly, I’m one of those people who can only handle coffee on an empty stomach in the morning. If I try to eat anything before my caffeine fix, I just end up feeling nauseous

Maybe try a spoonful of honey mixed with some fresh lemon or orange juice before you reach for the coffee? I totally get sticking to your routine, but when things start going sideways... well, doctors aren't all-knowing, and honestly, some can be pretty hit-or-miss depending on who you end up seeing. It might be worth weighing your options. We all tend to think, "this won't happen to me," but then you suddenly find yourself wondering, "what now?" My husband and I went in with that same mindset, and it ended... less than ideal. In our case, we barely scraped by, but still. I don't want to jinx anyone, but you should probably be prepared just in case.

It might be worth weighing your options. I know we all start out thinking, "this won't happen to me," but eventually, you might find yourself wondering why it happened to you specifically. My husband and I went in with that same mindset, and it ended... poorly. In our case, it was a close call, but still not ideal. I don't want to sound pessimistic, but you might not be as lucky as we were if things take a turn.

So, what actually happened?

Look, I get wanting to stick to your routine, but when things start going sideways... doctors aren't exactly all-knowing, and honestly, a lot of them can be pretty hit-or-miss depending on who you end up seeing. It might be worth weighing your options a bit more carefully. I know we all start out thinking, "Nah, I'll be fine," but you might eventually find yourself wondering why things went wrong for you specifically. My husband and I approached things with that same mindset, and it ended up... well, not great. In our case, we barely scraped by, but still. Who knows if you'll be as lucky if things take a turn? I'm not trying to be a doomsayer, but maybe don't tempt fate either.

I tried doing the whole squeezed orange thing on an empty stomach a few times, and honestly, it just made me feel
nauseous; that acidity really didn't sit right with me in the morning.
As for my coffee habit, I just stick to a warm cup of black coffee with a splash of milk in the morning, and then maybe another small one after lunch.
I don't see any harm in that, though I suppose it could potentially mess with your health if you overdo it.
Oh, and yeah, I always eat breakfast right after my coffee.

Honestly, I can’t get anything going in the morning unless it’s coffee or something similar.
And once I have that, it usually hits the spot and keeps me full for a while.
What else is actually worth having?
I’ve heard fruit juice is a good move to kickstart the appetite.

I’m not saying it was definitely harmful, but for my husband, skipping breakfast was just unthinkable for 36 years. He’d spend his entire morning just sipping coffee and smoking, not eating a single thing until maybe 2:00 or 3:00 in the afternoon. Once we started living together—around the time he turned 36—he finally started eating breakfast, mostly because I’ve eaten breakfast my whole life and I can’t even function if I don't get some food in me first thing. It wasn't really his thing at first, but over time, he reached a point where he couldn't imagine starting the day without it. Between that erratic lifestyle and who knows what other factors were at play, I honestly don't know how we got this lucky... whether it was the doctors, God, or just plain old luck, I'm just incredibly grateful that my husband is still here with me today.

Youth is fleeting, and one day you’ll find yourself looking back wondering what on earth you were actually doing with your life!😍
Drinking coffee and smoking on an empty stomach is nothing short of pure poison; it’s a direct assault on your stomach lining. Honestly, all it takes is a little bit of willpower to break the cycle. It’s a struggle at first, sure, but then... it just becomes your new normal.
My husband used to live on nothing but caffeine. Back when we had those "humanitarian" working hours, he was on the clock from 6 AM to 2 PM, meaning his first real meal wouldn't hit the table until after 3 PM—if he was lucky.
Once the gut issues started kicking in... he tried to adjust. It was tough initially, but eventually, he managed to start with just a small piece of bread with something on it, then moved up to coffee with a splash of milk. Now, after all these years, he can't even imagine having a cup without some kind of "attachment."
So, grab some bread—I’m taking feralwolf24’s advice here. Eat that first, and then have whatever else you're craving.

My daily routine involves coffee at 6:40 AM followed by breakfast at 7:00 sharp.
It’s always on an empty stomach, though I limit myself to just twenty minutes. :-)

Alright, folks, let's settle this once and for all. Are you having your coffee before lunch—maybe with some soup or whatever—or is it strictly an after-meal thing?
Definitely after!
Why don't you just flip the whole routine on its head and have it in the morning instead?🙂

I always have my coffee after I eat. Honestly, I don't think I've ever actually had it on an empty stomach. Besides, I've got a pretty massive appetite, so my stomach is rarely ever truly empty anyway. And as far as side effects go? No stomach aches or anything like that from the caffeine.
