Woke up this morning feeling totally wiped out from a cold. Spent about two hours just blowing my nose nonstop until I finally used some nasal spray to get things under control. But then, a few hours later, everything changed. Now it feels like my stomach and throat are just filled with this gross, thick mucus that won't come out the nose—it just drips straight down my throat and into my stomach instead (why does that even happen???) and it’s making me want to gag constantly. I just had a little shot of homemade bourbon 😲 to try and settle things, but that nasty feeling in my throat and stomach is still there and I'm still feeling super nauseous. Any advice on what I should do? 😕

If you feel like throwing up, just let it happen. 😬 It’s possible all that heavy smoking and using nasal sprays irritated your membranes, causing swelling that's blocking everything up and making it all drip down.
Anyway, just lie down and get some rest. Grab some tea and it'll pass.
If you want to speed things up: wrap a scarf around your head to help raise your sinus temperature—it helps the viruses clear out faster. Stick to light meals and cut out sugar (which fuels inflammation) and dairy (which can bog down your immune system). Once you hit that stage in a day or two where everything feels stuffed up—meaning the viruses are gone but the mucus is stuck—try some steam inhalation to loosen it all up, then blow your nose. You'll be feeling better soon. 😍

On top of everything I just mentioned, you should probably toss in an extra 20mg of zinc daily, maybe throw some echinacea into the mix, and really load up on those heavy doses of Vitamin C.

Thanks for all the advice, everyone. Honestly, I’m at my wit's end with these constant colds. That bit about the inflamed membranes causing mucus to drip down the throat actually makes sense to me. I’ve been taking some Maximalist, so my nose isn't running anymore, but I can still feel that drainage hitting the back of my throat. Guess everything is still pretty swollen.

I'm going to try a steam inhalation tonight to see if I can clear out these sinuses a bit.

Also, I definitely need to pick up some zinc and echinacea.

Seriously, you should pick those up ASAP, because when you combine zinc and echinacea with a heavy dose of Vitamin C, the treatment works way more effectively, don't you think? I’d actually suggest grabbing a high-quality multivitamin too, just to give your immune system every single tool it needs to absolutely crush this virus.

And hey, make sure you get your flu shot next year without fail, because honestly, isn't there nothing better than just being prepared?
