I’m looking for some perspective from anyone here who might have a bit more medical intuition or perhaps dealt with something similar. 😘

I recently underwent a minor procedureβ€”just a routine mole removal on my back. Everything went smoothly enough; a few stitches, I had the sutures removed recently, and all that. However, now that the scab has finally fallen off and the fresh tissue is visible, it looks like there’s a tiny fragment of suture material still poking out from where they closed the wound.
It isn't painful by any means, and you can barely see it, but if I happen to touch that specific spot on my back, I can definitely feel it. 😳

Someone mentioned that the thread might just dissolve and work its way out on its own, but I can't help feeling a little uneasy about it. I'm planning to swing by my doctor's office in the next few days just to have them take a look.

Am I just being overly paranoid here, or is it wiser to get a professional opinion? πŸ˜•

Thanks!

Yeah, better safe than sorryβ€”better call the doctor just in case! :-)

You can honestly get that done in about two seconds at any local urgent care clinic.

I pulled out about 8 inches of thread... doctor told me he would’ve done the exact same thing if I’d actually shown up to see him instead of DIYing it.

I actually have dissolvable threads in my noseβ€”and no, they didn't opt for permanent removal (I asked)β€”simply because the recovery process isn't exactly a walk in the park... why go through the hassle of surgery when you can just use threads that naturally dissolve within ten to fifteen days?

So, waiting for the meltdown πŸ˜‰ 😁

My thanks to everyone for the input!

In the end, I decided to head over there anyway, and my sister managed to patch up the hole using some kind of filler 😁

It was a stroke of luck that the thread wasn't just a measly 20 cm long 😳
