Every single time I sit down to watch anything this genius ever touched, I’m left feeling completely floored... all over again.
I decided to revisit this one today just to shake off the cobwebs.

It feels like this strange, distilled cocktail of every script d. Kovačević ever penned.
You can catch echoes of Marathon Runner and KTTP in here... yet the entire plot follows that specific mold of the North American Spy.

The sheer density of this film is overwhelming... honestly, I still find it hard to wrap my head around how they managed to pack so much into a mere 90 minutes.

Kovacevic is a genius, plain and simple. 🙂

Typo in the headline... it should be Kovačević, not Kovčević... if the moderators don't mind me pointing it out...🙂

I caught that movie (Professional) about two or three years ago... it’s actually pretty good. Really solid. But honestly? Marathon Runner, the North American Spy, and KTTP still hit way harder for me. Those are just timeless classics from this part of the country. Forever.🙂

The only real reason is the cast... most of those heavy hitters have already passed on.
They never really got—or will ever get—a consistent group of successors to take their place... plus, seeing Kovacevic or Šijan out there isn't what it used to be. Their presence on a film set has become a rare occurrence these days.😢

It's a fantastic movie.
But doesn't it have its own legacy? We still have incredible talents like Srdjan Zika Todorovic, Nikola Djuricko, Vuk Kostic, and Dragan Micanovic—truly phenomenal actors!

Just saw this on ABC.
It’s a solid movie; I’ve watched it five times now. First time on the big screen, the rest on TV.
One thing though—ABC clearly cut a segment right before the scene where they mention the fall of Knoxville. They had a shot showing a column of refugees with an onscreen graphic stating there were about 500,000 people fleeing the Republic of Srpska. I get why they might want to skip it, but I don't get how they're allowed to butcher the film like that when laws usually prohibit altering the original version.

One thing I noticed, though, is that ABC cut out a specific segment. Right before the scene where they mention the fall of Knoxville, there’s this footage showing a column of refugees with an on-screen caption saying they were fleeing from the Republic of Srpska and numbering about 500,000. I can get why they might want to skip that, but I don't understand how they're allowed to butcher a film like that when there are laws against altering the original version.

I honestly cannot believe this is happening! Where on earth do those idiots at ABC get the right to just hack away at a movie whenever they feel like it? It's bad enough that they never show the end credits properly or that they'll pull the plug on a series after only two episodes of a new season (look no further than Weeds for a recent example), but now they're actually mutilating films too! They have seriously crossed the line with this garbage. 😠

*The Professional* is one of those films that doesn't require a commentary track; you just sit back and take it all in. I have to highlight the scene where they’re beating a protester, and then the lead officer steps in and asks him, "Why are these good people hitting you?" 😁 Also, an even more intense moment occurs when they strip down to show each other their wounds, only for the secretary to walk right in... hahaha...
