Regarding DIY targets... anyone here actually used them before?
Could I make a target out of wax, maybe like a 0.5 cubic block?
Think that would stop an arrow or nah...

Hey archers, I’m pretty new to this—been hitting the range at the local club for about two months now and honestly, I’m loving it. Two months isn't exactly a long time given how slow the progress can be in this sport, but I actually dig the grind. I live for my training sessions... if I could show up every single day, I would. I decided to go with a BlackBerry. I was actually leaning toward a traditional/primitive setup, but I got the feeling that's more of a "next step" thing—not really where a beginner should start. Whatever, the BlackBerry is killer and it gets the job done.
Quick question: for those of you hitting up 3D tournaments, does anyone actually shoot with a PB?

I've stuck to my compound bow for all the 3D shoots so far, but I'm planning to switch over to traditional for the next one.🙂

So, I’m the new guy here. Archery is awesome, though. I really need to get my grip sorted out—my hand is basically one giant bruise at this point. I'm just messing around with a kid's bow right now, and honestly, it scares me to think what would happen if I actually had a real setup. Plus, my eyesight isn't exactly top-tier either.

Anyway, catch you guys at some tournament down the road 🙂
My lead hand feels fine, but my release? Total disaster—partly because this bow is probably a bit much for me right now. But whatever, I’ll get there. After 15 arrows, my whole pelvic floor is just shaking... 🙂

Some guys at the club keep rambling on about how I should eventually invest in my own gear and all that nonsense. Then I take one look at the price tags for cycling equipment and—good grief—it’s a joke. You’d practically have to sell both kidneys, your liver, and your eyes just to afford some budget-friendly pedals. It’s an insanely expensive hobby.

Are there any other stores you know of that carry gear at a better price point than what Cici’s offers? You could even head over to somewhere like Oregon or maybe cross the border if you're feeling adventurous—prices can get pretty low out there—but honestly, most places seem to be hovering right around these same markups anyway.

Hey everyone, can someone give me a heads-up on who’s actually planning to show up for the Christmas tournament in Chicago?

Price is a bit steep, but whatever—you win some, you lose some. Honestly, I don't think you ever need to regret spending money, even if it feels like a total waste... time is way more valuable anyway.
As for the tournament, it’s still too early. Work has been absolutely burying me lately—can't even catch a breath—so I haven't even hit the court for practice in two weeks.
And archery? From what I can tell, it's basically just a test of patience... so I guess we'll crawl our way toward that tournament eventually.😁

My husband has been wanting to try archery for ages. I checked out Absolute Adventure, but they only offer it as part of their corporate team-building packages. Does anyone know where else I can find a session? I’d love to get this for him as an anniversary gift...

If you're thinking about getting into this, don't come complaining later. You'll be shelling out a lot of cash, sure, but if you actually love the sport, the cost won't matter.

Honestly, if you're feeling up for a little road trip, check out that archery shop over near Minneapolis; there's a guy there who carries all that gear and his prices aren't nearly as predatory as most places.
