Honestly, I can't recommend it enough—just go ahead and install the AdBlock Plus and AdBlock Plus element Hiding Helper extensions. It's a lifesaver.

Honestly, this place has turned into a total circus lately, and I think this is just more proof of that; no serious community site should have such a cluttered, off-center layout filled with these massive ads, lol

Just get AdBlock Plus installed so things look somewhat normal.

Here we go... Two. Here’s how you get rid of that Marketing Box and those empty ad slots... This only applies to Firefox—if you’re using any other browser, you're on your own. 😁

Just to reiterate what was said earlier—trying to browse the web normally without these, or even a solid Flash blocker, is just plain ridiculous.

Oh yeah, brilliant idea...
Blocking the very ads that keep this site running...
It would be way smarter to just fix them so they aren't such an eyesore, then maybe we could actually make enough cash to pay for decent servers.

Help me wrap my head around this logic: if I never click on an ad in my entire life, it isn't making any money from me.
So how exactly am I causing a problem here? You could design the most incredible ad campaign in the world, but if I'm not interested in what you're selling, those ads aren't doing anything for me. Honestly, I almost never click on them; they just get in the way of actually browsing the web. It’s gotten to the point where I have almost everything blocked on every site I visit, leaving nothing visible except the actual content I came for.
I came here to participate in discussions, not to spend my time hunting and clicking on ads.

Actually, you do: some ads pay per click, while others pay per view. So, if a site is pumping out a ton of those "pay per view" ads, then yeah, they are technically "losing money."
But here's the thing—without people like you posting all this content—which, by the way, doesn't get you paid a single cent—this whole community wouldn't exist. And without the content, you wouldn't have that 90% of users who just lurk and read, which is actually a much better audience for advertisers anyway. So, you basically have everything you need to shut down those preachy idiots. When you write, you're creating the very stuff that draws people in, which in turn lets the owner make money off those ads.
And honestly? Once the owner decides to play fair and stops shoving ads in our faces so aggressively that it becomes impossible to even read the posts, maybe we can all decide to finally turn off AdBlock in this neck of the woods.

I'm not entirely sure what the actual view counts are, but yeah, I'm kind of with you on that.

I don't know what kind of ad they end up running, but honestly? I’d probably just kill it immediately. But hey, that might just be me. 😬

To put it bluntly...
Regarding this whole thing, I use AdBlock myself and it never even crosses my mind to turn it off.😁
But I still think it’d be way smarter if the site just organized its ads so they didn't drive users crazy, rather than expecting everyone to just kill them all with AdBlock...
I mean, on sites that aren't aggressive with their ads, I actually turn AdBlock off... let them make a few bucks.🙂
On Reddit, I never turn it off because they just harass me.😉

Game theory tells us that a rational forum owner will eventually change their ad policy once current trends start losing them more money than they bring in.
History, however, suggests that Anderlon isn't exactly a rational player, so we should probably expect some pretty sub-optimal performance.
In short, we’re never going to have a reason to turn off AdBlock.

How can I get rid of those ads stuck at the top and on the right side when using Google Chrome with Adblock installed? 🤷
