I’ve got this motherboard, but I’m looking everywhere—official sites, Google, you name it—and there are zero drivers for Windows 8 (64-bit).
Do you think the Windows 7 64-bit ones would actually work? Has anyone tried that yet? I really don't want to wipe my drive before I know for sure!

Honestly, I don't think anyone can give you a definitive answer to that one... I used to run an ASRock h55m-le back in the day, and Windows 8/8.1 worked just fine—even though the motherboard didn't officially support the drivers for that OS. Of course, some people end up dealing with random restarts because the lack of proper drivers starts causing issues.

You basically have two paths here: you can take the risk and install Windows 8/8.1 to see how the system behaves, or just leave things exactly as they are.

ASUS ROG Extreme vs. ASUS ROG Extreme3 R2.0? Apparently, the second one is 🤷Windows 8-ready.

Alternatively, just run the Upgrade Assistant on your current Windows setup and check the system requirements.

The version I've got is 1.1, but I noticed 2.0 actually comes with drivers for Windows 8..
All I really care about is getting my audio working and making sure the ethernet controller kicks in...plus, it’s gotta be rock solid, you know?

Everything's installed and running smooth as silk! No crashes, no lag, nothing weird happening at all...
Most of my drivers were handled right through Windows Update, so I just had to grab the latest ones for my GPU myself.
