Back in the day, when we were just kids running around the Midwest stealing snacks from the pantry😁, we used to watch Miami Vice. Man, what a rush seeing Don Johnson—who apparently starred in adult films before this, according to 😁—acting in a show that had everything a kid growing up here could dream of. The colors... I mean, those neon shades were probably the brightest things ever captured on film. Espadrilles, loafers, yellow, green, red, white (not that I care about the color of the words 😬)... Anyway, years have passed. A lot has changed. In the grand scheme of things, besides the fact that the USSR is gone, the biggest loss is that there aren't any more Don Johnsons to watch. But we do have Michael Mann, who finally followed through on his threat and actually made a movie. Honestly, if it weren't for him, I don't think anyone would have even bothered making this. To be clear, the movie lacks enough action for a blockbuster, doesn't have enough humor to be fun, and the script is so thin my neighbor Pero could probably write something better while changing a tire. Plus, it carries this massive weight of being part of a flood of crime shows since the eighties, which makes it feel oh so passe... but I don't really care 😵... because having Michael Mann involved makes up for it. His shots are so good that even when nothing intelligent is happening on screen, you still find something to admire. My god, even a boring boat ride looks great. Even in HD, his work makes sense. I can't shake the feeling that half the movie is just an excuse to show off beautiful cinematography... but hey, I can't complain. You either get sucked into Mann's noir world or you don't. Personally, I had no clue what was going on and didn't care; I just enjoyed the ride😁..
'Noir in Florida'... turns out it's possible
Oh yeah, did I mention 😍...

Honestly, this movie is fantastic. I went in with zero expectations, but I walked away genuinely impressed. The cinematography is top-tier, and that shootout at the end? It felt incredibly raw and realistic. 😎

You really need to catch this on the big screen; watching it on a TV just doesn't capture the full intensity. 👍

It looks like shower sex is the big trend this season. We got two different scenes! They really don't hold back, and honestly, the ending caught me totally off guard

Honestly? This movie is a total disaster. The camerawork is just embarrassing—it feels like some kid trying way too hard to look cool without actually having any technical skill. It’s amateur hour. And the directing? Don't even get me started. It’s not that "I don't care" stylistic choice that actually works; it just looks like the director was playing around with the editing software, had no clue where anything belonged, and just shoved clips wherever they could fit. It’s a mess. As for the leads, both Colin and Foxx basically did absolutely nothing the entire time. They just stood there sulking and making faces at the camera. Total waste of screen time.

The script is just plain bad. Honestly, what were they even thinking? I’ve seen better writing on a napkin at a diner in Chicago. Just... total garbage.
Yeah, right. Like two FBI guys suddenly have these flashy cars, high-level connections, and total immunity to just do whatever they want? Give me a break. As if everyone out there knows how to fly a damn plane, too. Honestly, the whole movie is just a massive waste of money. Total trash.

Man, I caught this last night and honestly? It’s a total blast. Farrell and Foxx are absolutely killing it, and you already know what to expect when Michael Mann is behind the camera...

The plot might drag a little bit in certain spots, but honestly, complaining about that feels kind of silly—it's like nitpicking Superman for not being realistic or something.

Definitely give it a watch.

Honestly, this movie is a total miss—save your money and skip it.

It’s just way too slow, and that romance subplot? Completely pointless.

The whole thing was a massive letdown.

Over at Sight & Sound, they just dropped a four-page deep dive on the movie. Honestly, I bet even Michael Mann didn't realize just how much subtext was packed into every single scene.😁

This isn't even a movie; it's just a glorified, long-form "visit Florida" commercial where everyone happens to be wearing Boss' suits. Everything is just "cool," and instead of actually acting, the cast just stands there trying to look cool with these vacant expressions.
Michael Mann basically just went through the motions here, doing exactly what the producers demanded by churning out yet another cookie-cutter blockbuster.

Honestly, I feel like Hollywood is heading toward a point where they might just stop using scripts altogether.
I mean, why even bother with a script when it’s completely useless in movies like this?
We all know the exact recipe for this kind of fast-food cinema: a cool lead, a likable sidekick, a quirky villain, a supermodel for eye candy, some car chases, a shootout, and maybe two spoonfuls of sex.

So, I'm sure plenty of people are going to love this flick. 🙄

It’s been a long time since I’ve been this let down by a movie like Miami Vice. The whole thing is absolute garbage. My advice? Skip it. You wouldn't believe how dull it was; an hour before the credits rolled, I was sitting there wondering when this would finally end and why I hadn't just watched Mad Max or some mindless comedy about a remote control instead. I never had much time for Foxx to begin with, but Farrell really missed the mark here.

Aaaaah, look, I'm not even old enough to be twenty-four, but I still remember Don Johnson... anyway, do you remember me??

Yeah, because apparently two FBI agents get luxury cars, immunity, and total freedom to do whatever they want. And sure, everyone's a pro pilot now. The movie is just bad—a complete waste of money.

Considering how much it already made and what it's going to pull in...
I wouldn't call it a "waste of money."🤣

You can call me a nostalgic (with no other intentions, please, just strictly regarding this topic), but I was honestly expecting a bit more of that cinematic beauty—the gorgeous people, the ocean, the sunshine, cocktails, and those iconic "white linen suits" from the original TV series. Instead, we got none of that.😕
I have a ton of respect for Michael Mann as a director, but it feels like he personally wanted to go for some ultra-serious vibe, and man, did he overdo it! He focused so heavily on these heavy themes surrounding the two detectives and the whole mess of their crime-filled romance. We really should have been given a modern take within that same classic framework. After all, this is Miami, not Bangladesh...🙄
I will say, the night shots were beautiful, and that street "pistol" fight felt incredibly convincing.
As for the cast? Foxx was outstanding, but Farrell didn't really do much for me.

What a total disaster!

It’s been obvious for years that Michael Mann lacks even a shred of a sense of humor—which might fly in a gritty drama like Insider (featuring two legendary actors, at least)—but approaching Miami Vice with this level of deadly seriousness in 2006 was a massive blunder. The way Farrell and Foxx use every single frame to pull these "oh-so-concerned" faces just makes the whole thing a colossal failure.

I finally sat down to watch this tonight, and I have to admit, I’m feeling pretty let down. Aside from the visuals, there isn't much else to grab onto. I wasn't going in expecting some deep, philosophical masterpiece—just something fun to unwind with—but it didn't quite hit that mark either. Honestly, the only thing that kept me from completely zoning out was Colin Farrell. I found myself thinking the entire time, "Wow, he is just so handsome..."
It did have a slight 80s vibe, though. Did anyone else catch that? Those linen suits were such a giveaway 😁.

Man... what can I say? That's just what happens when you go in expecting an ACTION movie...

Man, this was brutal... Just boring, dragged out, and totally uninspired. Once you get past that opening sequence, there’s basically nothing happening for the first hour except a bunch of pointless boat chases, planes flying around, and some pretty dull sex scenes... then it just repeats itself with more mindless driving, aviation stuff, and uninteresting hookups...
I honestly can't remember the last time I actually walked out of a theater halfway through a movie, but here we are. I mean, I even managed to sit through "night watchman," but this? This was just unbearable. 👎

If I had to sum up this movie in one word—shallow. 👎 Honestly, almost nothing about it felt authentic to me. Look, I get it; it’s an action flick, and you don't expect a deep emotional journey. But man—when Bruce Willis leaps out of that building clutching his gun, you can actually feel the guy's rage. Meanwhile, these two leading men? They're just totally blank.
