So, here’s how it went down: I woke up yesterday around 10:00 AM, really hoping the day would turn out better than Friday did. I was brushing my teeth when I felt all stiff, so I tried to stretch.
CRACK!!
Just this wonderful "CRACK!!", like when you crush an eggshell! Right then, I realized my left shoulder and the back of my neck were hurting. It wasn't a massive amount of pain at first, so it didn't even cross my mind to head to the ER.
A few hours later, I'm sitting at my computer, and some hair falls into my eyes. I usually just jerk my head to move it, but when suddenly 😲 PAIN!!!, I honestly thought I was going to pass out; I actually saw stars for a second.
It was awful. From that moment on, my mind started spiraling toward the worst-case scenarios, 😢 like maybe I cracked a vertebra and might end up paralyzed, or even worse, 😱 that I'd have to wear one of those plastic neck braces. 😱 😱 (Like, you snap your spine like a pretzel)
Usually, Napster just downloads a song for me if I search for it aggressively, or my phone starts working again if I give it a good smack against something. What does that have to do with this, you ask? --> Well, there were moments where I felt this incredibly intense urge to just bash my right hand against my left shoulder blade, hoping to pop whatever was out back into place. I didn't do it—maybe because it seemed too risky, or maybe just because I couldn't reach it. 🙂
Anyway, I went to lie down, and I don't know exactly what I did, but I heard an identical CRACK!! and I froze up from the chill, and then I realized the pain was gone.
EUPHORIA!! SEROTONIN!! THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE!!
The pain isn't there anymore (well, not that intense 😢), except for the muscle in my left shoulder where the cramp used to be.
My question for you all is: what actually happens when a disc slips, or when a vertebra cracks, or when something near the shoulder blade gets dislocated? 😕
