steelhawk20 said:Question: I was just prescribed metformin without ever having my insulin resistance actually tested. It was based solely on my PCOS diagnosis. Should I just start taking it now, or should I push for some bloodwork first? I noticed someone else mentioned here that they take it for PCOS, but only after confirming insulin resistance.
Thanks!

Look, sorry to be that way—but could you maybe DM me? I’m not sure if there are doctors on here allowed to write prescriptions... I really don't have the time to deal with all the lab work right now. I would be so grateful. My number is 555-0198... please, I'm asking nicely.

Look, nobody’s just gonna hand you a prescription without an actual diagnosis to back it up... it doesn't work like that. Honestly, I don't get how you can't find a few hours to do some digging so we can figure out if you're dealing with something serious that needs monitoring. If you can't make time for your own health, what exactly *are* you making time for? 🤷

So, I’ve been on metformin for about two months now, taking 500 mg three times a day. At the very start, I was dealing with some pretty bad diarrhea, but that seems to have settled down. However, my gut still feels super restless—like it's constantly churning or bubbling up—especially at night when I'm trying to settle in for sleep. Do you think that could be one of the side effects from the metformin?

Yeah, it definitely can.

Which specific brand of metformin are you taking (like, what's the actual manufacturer's name)?

The exact one I'm taking is metformin Sandoz 500 mg. Honestly, I never used to deal with my stomach acting up like this until I started the metformin. Sometimes it gets so intense it actually drives me crazy. Lately, that constant churning and cramping has been hitting me hardest during the night, and then I'll still feel it right when I wake up in the morning.

Hey everyone. I’m joining the fray—I was prescribed some Glucophage recently and decided to give it a shot. After just one pill, I was hit with an unbearable headache by the afternoon, and it didn't let up the next day—talk about a brutal migraine.

I've stopped taking it until I can figure out my next move. I've been struggling with insulin issues and weight management for most of my life—likely the fallout from endless yo-yo dieting and other nonsense. Now, as the years pass, I'm seeing the toll it's taken on my health; I'm dealing with metabolic issues and just want to reset everything, though we all know that's impossible.

If there are any women out there fighting the same battles—looking to focus on fitness, weight loss, and general health—please shoot me a DM.

Also, a quick question—is this a normal reaction to Glucophage? Should I just power through it or look for a different medication? Between the headaches and the complete loss of taste and appetite signals—I ended up eating twice as much as usual because I felt absolutely nothing—neither hunger nor fullness. TERRIFYING. I polished off 400 grams of chocolate without even blinking, and I don't even feel sick yet.

Honestly, even looking at half that box makes me nauseous. What is the deal with this Glucophage?
I didn't technically "test" the Glucophage—I just got worked up, and whenever I get stressed, I turn to chocolate. So, I thought I'd have just a little, and then I ended up devouring the whole box.

So, Glucophage can definitely cause some nausea, but honestly, most people just deal with running to the bathroom or a general stomach ache. I haven't heard of anyone experiencing anything quite like what you're going through.

I have no idea what this stuff is—it was just one pill. Honestly, I’m not feeling any nausea at all, which is weird considering I just ate a full meal.

As far as I can tell, I am not taking this.

I used to take a box of Glucophage from Pfizer, but for some reason, they can't get it in stock right now, so I ended up with Glucophage instead. With the old stuff, I didn't deal with any side effects—in fact, I actually wondered why I was even bothering with it since nothing seemed to change. Unbelievable!
