Alright, fine, I'll admit I messed up. I totally misread what you were getting at, and I'm sorry.

No biggie. Obviously, there have always been differences between us that we’ve learned to live with. The real issue is my new situation—I'm dependent on him for the first time ever, and he’s got responsibilities he couldn't have even dreamed of before this. His reactions didn't even surprise me; it's just that I can't push back against them the way I used to.

It basically boils down to this: his mindset comes from where he grew up, and mine comes from where I grew up.
